The Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org) leads the way in helping people with arthritis live better today and create better tomorrows through new treatments, better access and, ultimately, cures. We do this by:

• Funding life-changing research that has restored mobility in patients for more than six decades
• Fighting for health care policies that improve the lives of the millions of American

s with arthritis
• Partnering with families to provide empowering programs and information

As the nation’s largest private funder of research, public health programs and advocacy on behalf of the 50 million Americans with this painful disease, the Arthritis Foundation aims to reduce the number of people suffering from arthritis-related physical activity limitations by 20 percent by 2030.

This heat has us melting! Here are some tips for sun safety and protection:

☀️ Avoiding Peak Temperatures- Schedule errands, walks, or other activities in the early morning or evening when the sun is lower and temperatures are cooler.

☀️ Check your Medication- Many arthritis medications (like certain NSAIDs) increase your sensitivity to the sun. Always wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen, UV blocking sunglasses, and wide brimmed hats.

☀️ Use Cooling Aids- Keep cool with compresses, ice packs, personal fans, or cooling towels. Ice packs can also be used to apply to swollen joints.

☀️ Drink Water- Staying hydrated is essential especially if you are outside. Infused water or electrolytes can help you stay hydrated.

☀️ Dress Smart- Wear loose, lightweight, and breathable clothing to help regulate your body temperature and prevent overheating. Cotton and linen clothing are great lightweight fabrics.

"Missed the fun." 💚

It's one of the hardest squares on our JA bingo card.

Whether it's missing a birthday party, sitting out at recess, skipping a school event or staying home because of a flare, juvenile arthritis can mean missing moments no child should have to miss.

Most people don’t realize that kids get arthritis, too. Share this post to help others better understand the realities of juvenile arthritis. And if this square feels familiar, know that you're not alone. We've gathered resources, support and connections to help.

💚 Explore resources and find support for wherever you are on your journey. https://arthr.org/4nnZR8F

Happy 4th of July! Stay safe and use our tips to beat the summer heat.

We also want to extend a big Thank You to our active duty military and veterans. No matter what branch or unit you served — as an active-duty service member, retired military or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces — you may bear years of debilitating pain in your joints resulting from the demands of the job. Arthritis affects military service members at higher rates on average than the general U.S. population — 1 in 3 compared to 1 in 4, respectively. Thank you for your service!
