⭐️ Do you know about Joana Tuleda?!

⭐️ Joana is a Luso-American Latina helping organizations provide quality language and cultural services to Latino, immigrant, BIPOC, and Limited-English Proficient communities.

⭐️ For over ten years, She has worked with healthcare, education, public health, and community organizations in multiculturalism, health & social disparities, Diversity & Inclusion, and intercultural communication.

⭐️ During our discussion--we'll be talking about blanching ones self off their culture for the sake of "blending in".

📚️ We've got a question for you...

🤗 How are you celebrating Black History Month?

💯 Whether it's by supporting Black creatives, business owners or learning about history from a non-Eurocentric perspective--remember that the ability to lean into and learn about social issues that impact the community is equally important.

🫂 Nothing's wrong with appreciating culture or history but challenge yourself to go a step further to better understand the community as well!

🔗 If you'd like some resources to help with that, feel free to click the link in our bio to access our Racial Literacy Database that we regularly update with:

🎈Statistical Data
🎈Historical Information
🎈Creative Resources [supporting each community and their perspective]

👀 This database is inclusive and holds information about the Black, Latino, AAPI, Indigenous and Jewish Community. Check it out!

🙃 Something we wish people understood....

📖 Few people talk about the impact of environment as it relates to r@ce.

📖 The country you grew up in, the neighborhood and it's community, your social environment -- all of these impact your job opportunities, quality of food, education and emotional health!

During our upcoming FIERside Chat, we'll be asking questions that address:

🤯 Notable social/emotional differences that BIPOC communities experience when they leave America versus when they stay in it!

🤯 Common misconceptions that prevent people from traveling abroad

🤯 Nationality versus r@cial identity

Join our discussion this Sunday with and come ready with questions!

📣 Speak up!

☝🏼 Last year we hosted a FIERside Chat discussion with and delved into the subject of Performative Allyship and Allyship for the BIPOC community in general.

😊 Food for thought: As a member of the BIPOC community, consider the impact of what you say, when you say it and why you're going through the trouble.

💙 Likewise... protect your peace.

✨ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"

🎙️ MLK believed that in order to truly make a difference in our world, one had to be willing to open themselves to caring about the well-being of others. From the perspective of allyship--this means learning and UNLEARNING social and systemic practices.

⚠️ Dedicating yourself to learning a little bit about others' experience, history, culture etc. challenges you to respect and humanize them regardless of the differences between you.

💯 Get outside your comfort zone. Learn more. Do better and be better. We change the world by caring about one another.
