The Surrogacy Foundation

The Surrogacy Foundation Gift of Surrogacy Foundation is a nonprofit that provides grants, education and support for surrogacy We're not your grandparents' nonprofit.

The Surrogacy Foundation (formerly Gift of Surrogacy) is propelling surrogacy into the mainstream by making it more accessible, transparent, and celebrated. We understand that donors want to do good AND feel good. That's why we bring transparency to every step of the surrogacy journey, connecting donors directly to the impact they're making - from fertility treatments to birth. Born from personal

experience, we know surrogacy isn't just expensive - it's a complex journey that operates behind closed doors. That's why we provide both financial assistance and comprehensive support to intended parents every step of the way. Because yes, it takes a village. That's why we bring the village to you. You know those moments when your mind won't stop spinning and everything feels heavier than it should?

For a lot of people who have been through surrogacy, that feeling doesn't always disappear when the next milestone arrives. The waiting, uncertainty, and emotional ups and downs can stay with you long after the journey changes shape.

That's one reason mental health support is such an important part of ethical surrogacy. It's not an extra. It's part of caring for the whole person.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're grateful for organizations like , a Magic Maker and Founding Partner helping support the emotional well-being of the family-building community and reminding us that mental health deserves the same attention as every other part of the journey.

If you're struggling, know that you don't have to carry it alone. There are professionals, many within this community, whose role is to help support intended parents and surrogates through the complexities of the process.

At The Surrogacy Foundation, we believe access to that kind of support should be the standard, not the exception.

You don’t have to hold it all by yourself.

Many people who have faced infertility understand a kind of heartbreak that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it yourself.

They remember the questions, the waiting, the comments that stung more than people realized, and how isolating the experience could feel:

“Just relax.”
“Stop stressing.”
“It’ll happen.”

Most people don’t mean any harm, but those words can land heavier than they realize.

That’s why so many choose to give back.

Not because they have all the answers, but because they know how much it matters to feel supported by someone who truly understands.

A listening ear, a shared story, or a reminder that no one should have to walk through infertility alone.

Sometimes the people most passionate about helping others are the ones who once needed that same support themselves.

The Surrogacy Foundation is here to help you pay that forward in whatever way feels right for you:

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is about more than recognition.

It’s about understanding the journeys that shape people, and the impact they go on to have.

Candy is a first-generation American, and her story begins with her parents.

They fled Laos during the Quiet War, spent two years in a refugee camp in Thailand, and came to the United States with one goal: to build a better life for their children.

That kind of sacrifice doesn’t stay in the past. It becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
That kind of story doesn’t just stay in the past. It shows up in how you move through the world.

For the past 7 years, Candy has been a legal operations professional in surrogacy, now with .

She didn’t come into this work through personal experience. She chose it. Because she believes in what it represents.

Every day, she helps navigate one of the most complex parts of the journey. The part that protects everyone involved. The part that turns intention into something real.

She’s proud to say it out loud.
“I help build families.”

Surrogacy doesn’t just take science or money. It takes people who care enough to do the work behind the scenes so someone else can move forward.

This month, and every month, we’re grateful for the people who bring their full story into this work and make the path more possible for others.

That’s the village.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. And with Mother’s Day this month, emotions can feel especially heavy for those still waiting to become mothers.

Sometimes our minds try to predict the future, telling us what will or won’t happen. But the truth is, we don’t truly know what the future holds.

For those hoping to become mothers, we want them to know that their journey isn’t over. It may not happen the way they imagined, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost.

This isn’t the end of the story; just a different chapter.

There are moments where you can actually see what “community” looks like.

This was one of them.
At the spring conference, The Surrogacy Foundation showed up as a pro bono sponsor. Not just to be in the room, but to be part of something bigger alongside a community that cares deeply about doing this work.

Together, that room raised over $25,000 to support Florida attorneys on the front lines protecting ethical surrogacy and adoption.

That doesn’t happen because of one organization. It happens because people decide to show up, give and stand next to each other to say this matters.

To everyone in the AAAA community, and to the fellow sponsors who leaned in, thank you. This is what the village looks like in real time.

And for those who support this work, whether as donors, professionals, or advocates, this is the connection point. Your support turns into moments like this.

This is how the future gets built. Not alone, but together.

Let’s keep showing up.

Mother’s Day looks different for every family.

For some, it’s the day they finally became a mom…
after years of waiting, hoping, and wondering if it would ever happen.

If that’s you, then you know this:

You didn’t get here alone.

There was a woman who carried your child.
Who gave her time, her body, and her heart to help you become a mother.

That’s not just support. That’s a life-changing gift.

Today, we’re celebrating both sides of that story,
the women who became moms through surrogacy,
and the women who made that possible.

If your family was built this way, this is a moment to honor it.

One simple way to do that:
make a gift in honor of your surrogate,
and help another family take their first step toward this same moment:

Because the greatest way to say thank you is to help someone else get here too.

“Surrogate mother.”

It’s a phrase many people use without thinking.
But for Charlotte, it’s not quite right.

She carried Lennon for the McGills, our 2024 Grant Winners.

She cared deeply and showed up in every way that mattered, but she wasn’t Lennon’s mother.

Surrogacy asks us to expand how we think about roles, relationships, and even language itself.

This is the first in a series with the founding surrogates of the National Surrogate Alliance, sharing what they wish more people understood about their experience.

As we head into Mother’s Day, this is part of the bigger picture: honoring the women who build families in different ways and making space for the nuance that actually reflects the journey.

40 years ago, becoming a mom through surrogacy wasn’t a path. It was a leap.

Before there were clear roadmaps, broad acceptance, or people even understood what this meant, Sandy made a choice rooted in hope.

A choice that would change not just her life, but so many that came after.
Today, we see the outcome of that courage in Jill Brand, but this moment starts with her mom.

“It's a story of creativity, perseverance, some chutzpah, luck and a lot of love.”

As we step into May, the month that holds Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about the many ways people become mothers and the women who helped make those paths possible in the first place.

Sandy was the first intended mom.

And her story is a reminder of what it takes to go first.

Today is National Superhero Day 🦸‍♀️

And for us, it always comes back to surrogates.

Because this is what it actually takes:
Time. Trust. Strength. Showing up for someone else in one of the most meaningful ways possible.

Taylor Estus had already built her own family.

But she felt pulled to do more.

What started as a desire to give back after building her family turned into something bigger when she discovered surrogacy.

She carried twice.

One of those journeys was for our founders, helping them welcome their daughter, Addison.

And as she says, “While you’re pregnant, you kind of feel like a superhero. It honestly feels like a superpower.”

Not because anyone is looking for recognition, but because of what it requires, physically, emotionally, and relationally.

Surrogates don’t just carry babies, they carry possibility and futures.

Today, we’re celebrating Taylor and every surrogate who chooses to show up this way.

We see you. We’re grateful for you.
