Annette’s Daughter Mobile Holistic Resource Center is the product of many projects offered over the years by the Midwives of Mamatoto Childbirth Alliance in Atlanta Georgia which came into existence to serve the underserved communities of Atlanta with quality family resources that transform lives since 2004.
Over the past sixteen years we have served many women and their families with outstanding resources, education around healthy living, parenting and community development. As the city grows and changes we would like to expand and reach more families with different needs. In part Mamatoto would like to introduce the Mobile Community Wellness Center; this will allow us to reach more Women and their families during this unpreceded time of the pandemic Covid-19. This would also cover rural areas where there is no holistic care and medical services are limited or not provided. The need of marginalized women and their families are increasing and with little to non-healthcare, this mobile unit can travel door to door or where it’s needed.
We will now form the nonprofit organization Annette’s Daughter which will emphasize on
Pregnant; homeless women, runaways, domestic violence victims, teenage girls, s*x workers, addicts, rural and other other marginalized families from all walks of life.
Our personal care scope will be:
• Prenatal care
• Childbirth education classes
• Doula support
• Pregnancy care packets including essential quality prenatal vitamins and breastfeeding supplies
• Vouchers for food and other items needed
• Food prep and hygiene services
We will also have the capacity to offer community educational experiences, trainings and support as well as be able to move to where the need is greatest.
As we all are aware that pregnant people and babies are dying at alarming rates all over the nation and in Georgia alone ranks #1 for maternal deaths in the US. The US has the most expensive, technical healthcare system in the world and the worst maternal mortality rate of all developed countries. With all the cutbacks and programs not being offered for women this will surely increase in time, with more dying babies and mothers. The use of hospitals, OBGYN and other health providers are little to none for these women, for the fear of being placed in jail, their children being taken away from them. With no place to go to get help is a failing resource to decrease poverty economics. This organization will go out into these areas where these families are and offer the help and resources that is need to ensure a positive and successful pregnancy and life long good health through direct contact interactions and quality education.
These families need to feel safe and respected and being met equally without bias and judgment. It is imperative that this organization is needed for this silent issue that no one talks about or has little to no services for.
Annette’s Daughter is the foundation the will be catered to the many needs and wants of pregnant destitute families, needing resources, information, and even shelter if we all can reach to that expectation. But most of all giving a community of neglected women a hope and chance for life.
Thank you all for your time and attention.
