A gentle reminder for today: You do not have to earn rest.

You do not have to finish every task, answer every email, solve every problem, or carry every burden before you are allowed to pause.

Today, give yourself permission to slow down. Read the book. Take the walk. Sit in the sun. Take the nap. Say no.

The to-do list will still be there tomorrow. Right now, choose yourself.

Lupus impacts Black women differently, and too often, we carry the weight of this disease without the support we deserve. It doesn’t ask for permission, and it doesn’t care how strong you are.

That reality is what inspired Mary Wells to create the Lupus Support Group for Women of Color, a community rooted in sisterhood, support, education, and healing. In our latest Behind the Diagnosis feature, Mary shares how one conversation, one vision, and one community grew into a powerful support network for lupus warriors across the country.

💜 Read Mary's story and learn how community can change the journey.

SAVE THE DATE!

Join BWHI for a powerful intergenerational reproductive health community event centered on honest conversations, shared experiences, and education across every stage of the cycle from menstruation to perimenopause and menopause.

This gathering will bring together leading experts, powerful stories, and community voices to help families navigate reproductive health with knowledge, compassion, and connection.
Because these conversations shouldn’t start late and they shouldn’t end in silence. 💜

We’re honored to support the 2026 Lupus Awareness Month Hybrid Gathering hosted by the Lupus Support Group for Women of Color and the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness. 💜

For many living with lupus, community is more than comfort, it’s care. Spaces where people feel seen, understood, believed, and supported matter deeply, especially for Black women and women of color disproportionately impacted by lupus and other chronic illnesses.

This gathering is a beautiful reminder that awareness must also look like connection, education, advocacy, and sisterhood.

Whether attending in person or virtually, participants will join a powerful community rooted in healing, shared experiences, resilience, and joy.

Saturday, May 30
2:00 – 4:00 PM CST
Madison, WI + Virtual Option Available

Thank you to the Lupus Support Group for Women of Color and the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness for continuing to create intentional spaces for support, visibility, and empowerment year-round.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t have one look, and it doesn’t begin the same way for everyone.

In many of our communities, subtle memory changes or shifts in behavior are brushed off as “normal aging.” But the earlier stages of Alzheimer’s deserve attention, compassion, and conversation.

If you or someone you love is navigating the earlier stages of Alzheimer’s, your story matters.
Sharing your experience with our partner helps reshape how this disease is understood, especially in minority communities where stigma and delayed diagnosis are common.

When we tell fuller stories, we help others recognize the signs, seek support, and advocate sooner.

Representation in storytelling builds awareness. And awareness protects time.

This is what Black excellence in healthcare looks like.

We’re celebrating Morgan State University’s Department of Nursing for achieving a 100% first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate among its 2025 BSN graduates, a powerful accomplishment that reflects excellence, preparation, and purpose.

The 2025-2026 NCLEX-RN Program Report highlighted that every Morgan candidate who took the exam in the current academic year passed on their first try, outshining both state and national averages.

At a time when the nation is facing growing nursing shortages, burnout across the healthcare workforce, and ongoing conversations about bias in medical care, this milestone means even more.

We celebrate these future healthcare leaders and the legacy of HBCUs continuing to open doors, shape systems, and prepare the next generation of changemakers in medicine and public health.

Congratulations to the graduates, faculty, and leadership at Morgan State University on this incredible achievement. 👏🏾
