Did you know that tomorrow, February 27th, is regarded as International Polar Bear Day? It coincides with the time period when polar bear mothers and cubs sleep in their dens. International Polar Bear Day raises awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear. A designated member of the REACH-ATL team convened a meeting on Monday, January 27, 2025, to discuss the strategies, structures, and implementation plans aimed at advancing equity measures and building resilience in response to the impacts of climate change on both the environment and public health. The discussion included feedback on various vulnerability indices that influence individual health in the West and Southwest Atlanta regions. These indices cover environmental factors, such as proximity to sources of air, noise, water, and soil pollution, as well as socio-economic factors, including living conditions, access to healthcare, and availability of healthy food.
