Today marks 100 days in foster care for Ace.
100 days of waiting.
100 days of wondering why no one has chosen him.
100 days of being told his forever family is out there, and they will love him for the rest of his days - they just need to find him.
He's been posted 3 separate times since his return in February. Each time his photos are shared and people ask to meet him. But out of over 60 shares, he has only received 2 applications - neither of which followed through with a meet and greet.
Ace is a 4-year-old male German Spitz/Australian Shepherd mix with a story that has broken our hearts more than once.
Originally bred as a Petland puppy, Ace ended up in animal control after his original owners were evicted and never returned for him. He came to our rescue where we treated his health issues from being in a shelter, updated his vaccinations, showed him so much love and he was adopted shortly thereafter! We were excited as we truly believed he had finally found his forever family… until he was returned nearly two years later due to no fault of his own.
And yet somehow, despite all of it, Ace still loves people with everything he has.
He is deeply loyal, incredibly affectionate, and happiest simply being beside his person. He wants to go where you go, do what you do, and love you the best way he knows how.
Ace does have quirks - because he’s a real dog, not a perfect one. He prefers a quieter home without heavy foot traffic outside (he would not do well in a city or busy suburb), and while he’s friendly meeting new people and animals with proper introductions, he can be vocal with strangers passing by. But honestly, we know he’s just being protective - he doesn’t want to lose yet another home and family.
Ace is house and crate trained, loves to be pet and loves to be brushed - and boy, is he a sucker for a belly scratch! If you have land, he would love to explore it, while keeping you in visual range of course. And his patrol services are completely free! Every squirrel better watch out because the speed of this guy is something to behold!
Ace’s breed mix definitely makes him a chaser - so while he does great with cats that don’t care about his existence, he will chase those that run from him.
But the right family won’t see any of those things as flaws.
They’ll see a dog who has spent his entire life searching for stability, safety, and someone who won’t give up on him.
Ace may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
But he is absolutely somebody’s soul dog.

The Maddux Movement is a non-profit foster based rescue located in the North Georgia Mountains. Our mission is to rescue and rehome animals that are in abusive, neglectful or endangering situations, which includes traditional or open admission shelters, strays, owner surrenders and puppy mills. Adoptions are not based on a first come first serve basis. The individual(s) selected will be chosen by what is best for each animal. Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (including leptospirosis and canine influenza).
Additionally, each adopted dog will be sent home with a personalized adoption kit, a Fi Series 3 GPS dog collar, a copy of The Forever Dog Life by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker and a complimentary dog blanket.
