From Baltimore to New York to Raleigh: Beauty, Service, and Community
Over the past week, I had the opportunity to take an East Coast road trip that reminded me why this work matters so much.
My first stop was Baltimore, where I spent time with Jon Merryman, a true leader in the cleanup movement whose dedication to removing tires and litter has inspired communities across the country.
From there, I traveled to Irvington, New Jersey, and NYC. I was grateful to spend time with family, including Chris Livsey and Jason Livsey, as well as connect with my Brother Ben Fong and Andres Limongi. While in Irvington, Jason and I cleaned up a neighborhood street and worked together to improve and maintain outdoor spaces around the community. It was a reminder that stewardship starts right where we are.
The final stop was Raleigh, North Carolina, where I joined Nathan A. Stuck, MBA Aka Trash-Man, along with the incredible team from The Great Raleigh Cleanup. Seeing Nathan, Roger, Cowgirl Candace, Kaley Cross Warner, and dedicated volunteers come together to beautify their city was inspiring. Preston Ross III continues to be a role model for me, demonstrating what consistent community leadership looks like. Thanks to Nathan for allowing me to be in so many amazing rooms.
This trip was especially meaningful because the past year has brought its share of challenges, setbacks, and family issues. Yet through it all, I remain committed to the mission.
