Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Toda we celebrate Earth Day by continuing to think about ways we can be more sustainable on an indivudal and community level. One way to do that is to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Albeit cliché, it's a great way to contribute to a more healthy and sustainable environment in a small, accessible way. Try to find ways to minimize waste by doing things such as:
- Drinking from a reusable water bottle instead of multiple plastic water bottles
- Use utensils made of sustainable, compostable materials
- Compost and recycle waste
- Use a reusable shopping bag when you grocery shop
- Up cycle material for clothes and/or other accessories, or buy clothes made from renewable material

Hit the link in our bio to find more information on how you can best reduce, reuse, and recycle, along with some BIPOC-owned companies that sell recycled/sustainable products!

GECC celebrates Earth Month by finding ways to be more environmentally sustainable on an individual & community level. Today, we're looking at ways we can contribute to greenspaces.

There are many ways you can do your part in creating or contributing to greenspaces.
- If accessible, you can get together with your community neighbors, find a piece of land nearby, and work together to create a greenspace for the community.
- You can visit and take care of greenspaces that already exist in your community, such as parks and community gardens.
- If these are not accessible options for you, make your own surroundings a greenspace by planting greenery in and around your home.

Tap the accounts tagged or head to our linktree in our bio to find some helpful links to find the best way you can contribute to greenspaces in your community!

Life is so much more enjoyable when you can BEE your full self ☀️🐝

We recent explored the work of local Apiarist (beekeeper) Edward Morgan ( ) at his 9 acre refuge in Marietta during an informative, engaging session on beekeeping.

Did you know that bees help pollinate over 90% of the world’s crops? They undertake the extraordinary life-giving work of helping to mature and grow many of the plants we enjoy and providing a food source - honey - that is globally consumed and universally loved. Ms. Honey bee truly is THAT GIRL.

Unfortunately, millions of bees are dying off due to global warming, habitat loss, parasites, and a class of bee-killing insecticides known as neonicotinoids (or neonics). Here are some ways we can help take better care of our bees, who do so much to care for us!

1) Sign the petition at the link in our bio to tell our state leaders to ban bee-killing pesticides 🚫

2) Grow a bee garden at your place with plants that provide yummy food for our bee friends, like lavender, yarrow, daisies, and honeysuckles.🌼🐝

3) Support local beekeepers like Edward Morgan! Local bee farmers support local bee populations. Buying local honey is also more environmentally friendly, plus you get to support a local hardworking business person ✨🍯👨🏿‍🌾

GECC celebrates Black History Month today and everyday and uplifts the entire Black community as we work towards our mission of building a grassroots, intersectional BIPOC-led collaboration to redress inequities in Georgia’s built and natural environments and forge a path for environmental liberation for the historically marginalized through mutual aid, education, and advocacy.

All this month we'll be highlighting black environmentalists, scientists, business owners, and etc. to bring to light the awesome work black people have done in regards to climate change and environmentalism in the state of Georgia, and beyond!
