🏳️‍🌈 HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 🏳️‍🌈

June 28th 1969 was the beginning of a historical, and pivotal moment for the LGBTQ+ community. While the Stonewall Uprising wasn’t the first, it set a precedent of what the q***r community wasn’t going to allow, for us to be silenced.

Exactly one year later, June 28th 1970 was the first Pride March! Nearly 55 years later, we still celebrate pride month in June around the United States, and around the world.

Remember to be proud, and to be you! No matter what anyone says, or no matter what you see or hear in the news or online. Be you! Be proud!

We know things in the world can feel scary and overwhelming for a lot of people, and we want to do our best to provide a space to get advice, build community and relax in a supportive environment.

We hope to see you all there!

🌈 Positions are filling up fast for the 2024-2025 Alliance eBoard!

The eBoard is still looking for three members to take up three positions, and they are as follows:

🧑‍🎨 Design Chair: Create flyers and graphics for our events and special holidays to be shared on our social media accounts.

💻 PIN Chair (Panther Involvement Network): Create and manage events on PIN, send out invites to our members, keep all PIN information up to date regarding member count, and other such things, as well as periodically updating our Linktree with new event and contact information.

✊🏾 Racial Justice Chair: Create and plan events based on racial equity, uplift q***r people of color, and help build community with organizations which serve racial minorities.

You can apply for these positions at the application in our Linktree, which is located in our bio.

If you have already applied, please check the email address in which you provided on your application, to see if you have been selected for an interview. We are still waiting to hear back from many of you, so make sure to jump on this opportunity!

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a revolutionary leader whose words and actions still resonate with us. Although we remember him today for his contributions during the civil rights movement, this work made him very unpopular during his lifetime.

Two months before his assassination, Dr. King delivered a sermon, "The Drum Major Instinct" speech. He finished by imagining what his funeral would be like and how he wished to be remembered. In his own words,

"I want you to say that day that I tried to be right on the war question. I want you to be able to say that day that I did try to feed the hungry. I want you to be able to say that day that I did try in my life to clothe the naked. I want you to say on that day that I did try in my life to visit those who were in prison. And I want you to say that I tried to love and serve humanity."

We honor his commitment to the liberation of all people living under racism, imperialism, and capitalism. Let's continue to live in his legacy by participating in direct action and supporting our communities 🫂
