A Morning to Remember 💙

We’re so grateful to everyone who made the Life House Atlanta Fall Breakfast so special!

From welcoming Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and 11Alive Chief Meteorologist Chris Holcomb to celebrating alongside our dedicated board members and the families at the heart of our mission, the morning was a powerful reminder of why we do this work.

Every conversation, connection, and shared story brings us closer to building Georgia’s first freestanding home dedicated to caregiver respite and pediatric care for medically fragile children.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their support, and believes in a future where children receive compassionate care and caregivers have the opportunity to rest and recharge.

Today, We’re Highlighting the Morren Family 💙

“Adlai would scream (not cry, SCREAM) from 1 a.m. – 4 a.m. every night. A respite center in Montreal (The Lighthouse) was my beacon in the darkest times. We NEED one in Atlanta.”

For families caring for a medically fragile child, the demands of around-the-clock care can be overwhelming. Sometimes, having a place where your child can receive compassionate, specialized care can be the difference between simply surviving and having the chance to rest and recharge.

The Morren family experienced firsthand how meaningful respite can be. Now, they are helping us share why Georgia families need that same support.

Life House Atlanta is working to build the first freestanding home for caregiver respite and pediatric care for medically fragile children in Georgia.

Their story is a powerful reminder: families need respite, too. 💙

Every child deserves compassionate care. Every caregiver deserves a chance to breathe.

According to the 2024 Needs Assessment conducted for Life House Atlanta, an estimated 17,000 medically fragile children in Georgia require around-the-clock caregiving.

For most families, parents become full-time caregivers, often isolated at home with little or no opportunity for respite. That means less time to rest, recharge, or care for siblings and other loved ones.

Georgia currently lacks enough programs to meet this critical need.

Today, We're Highlighting the Greene Family 💙

"I would just want to be Ellie's mom...just spend every moment with her and not have to think about the next thing, about her meds, and her feeding, and her positioning..."

The Greene family's words capture a reality that so many caregivers of medically fragile children know all too well.

Behind every medication schedule, feeding routine, and piece of medical equipment is a parent who simply wants the chance to be Mom or Dad.

That's why Life House Atlanta's mission matters. By providing compassionate pediatric care for medically fragile children, caregivers can have the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time with their families—knowing their child is in capable, loving hands.

A Special Thank You to Sebastien Cotte 💙

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sebastien Cotte for sharing his family’s story and making such a powerful ask at the Life House Atlanta Fall Breakfast.

Sebastien spoke about what it was like caring for his son, Jagger, and the exhaustion that comes with being a parent and a 24-hour caregiver.

“We never wanted a break from Jagger. We wanted a break from having to be his nurses 24 hours a day. We wanted, occasionally, to just be his mom and dad.”

Those words capture exactly why Life House Atlanta matters.

Sebastien reminded us that families across Georgia are living this reality right now—and that with our community’s support, we can help change it.
