At Team Jack, we believe awareness is important, but research is what moves us closer to better treatments and, ultimately, cures for kids with brain cancer.

In 2024, we committed $575,000 to the University of Colorado Anschutz to support the research of Sujatha Venkataraman, PhD. The goal of her project is to advance a new, targeted CAR T cell therapy that were developed by her team for children with deadly brain tumors such as DIPG, a cancer with no effective treatments and almost no long-term survivors.

“With support from the Team Jack Foundation, the team has made major progress. This funding has dramatically accelerated the science and helped remove key barriers on the path toward FDA approval,” said Dr. Venkataraman.

If successful, this therapy could help improve survival and quality of life for children with brain cancer while reducing long-term side effects.

We are so sad to hear about the passing of Dave Walton, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Dave served as the head official each year at the Takedown the Tumor tournament. We are grateful for the time and dedication he gave to our event and to the wrestling community.

Our hearts are broken by the news that our friend Liam passed away this morning. He was such a brave and sweet young man. Please keep his family and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We were blessed to have known Liam and we will never forget him.
