In 1972 several churches in the Athens, TN community got together and combined their efforts to help people who are in need. This "Coordinated" effort pools a variety of resources in hopes of doing more/better good together. Today, Coordinated Charities represents a large network of community resources including local churches, area ministries, local businesses, the United Way of McMinn/Meigs Coun
ties, local utility companies, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank/Feeding America, and many volunteers/individuals who give their time and resources. With this network, we are prepared to effectively and responsibly reach people who are in need. In a responsible manner, we are able to offer food/groceries, utility assistance, rent assistance, medical assistance, homeless aide, transient assistance and service hours for those who need them. We also offer the community a variety of ways to get involved. We accept and cherish people who come to volunteer in our mission. We also operate a Thrift Store. Our store survives and thrives through the continuing generosity of the Athens area community in the form of donations. It is a great and exciting experience for anyone to shop for the ever changing and new items in our store. And best of all, our store is able to add to the network of resources that financially support the mission of our aide agency. Coordinated Charities is one of the best examples of people in a community working together for a cause that uplifts others. I am so proud to serve as Executive Director! It is one of the very best organizations that promotes a Christian example of looking out for the interests of others.
