The Athens Limestone County Family Resource Center is dedicated to helping families find success by providing guidance, Information, referrals, & mentoring. We do this by offering services that target specific needs within the family.

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. The Athens Limestone County Family Resource Center made a commitment to become Dolly Parton's Imagination Library's Local Program Partner on July 1st, 2023. Every month, over 3,000 children in Limestone County find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors like you, who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

While our hearts are incredibly sad, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. If you find it on your heart, and are able to, help us support youth literacy in Limestone County, please consider donating. At $30 a month or $360 a year, you could provide 12 children in your community with books for one year. You can make a donation here: https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/

We’re just a few days away from our Shepherd’s Closet Open Shop Days!

We have some excess Shepherd’s Closet items that need to make room, so we’re inviting local families to stop by our lobby and shop for FREE on Friday, August 28 from 8:30am–4:30pm or Saturday, August 29 from 8:00am–12:00pm.

One shopping bag per family, while supplies last!

We hope to see you there and get these extra items into the hands of local families who can use them!

Families can shop our available excess items and take one shopping bag per family. Items are available while supplies last.

Are you a high school or college student ages 16–24 interested in a career in education?

Our new STEP (Students Training for Education Professions) Program gives students the opportunity to earn a stipend while gaining hands-on tutoring experience through our After School Tutoring Program!

Participants will also receive support with resumes, interviews, workplace readiness, career exploration, and college preparation.

No tutoring experience required!

Looking for support with your career goals or finances? We have two great opportunities happening this week!

Join us tomorrow from 1pm-3pm at the Athens-Limestone County Public Library for our Workforce Development Lab. This month, we’ll be covering Digital Identity & Online Safety, with helpful information for navigating your digital presence during your job search and beyond. Workforce Development Lab Days are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month.

You can also join us on Tuesday evenings from 5pm-6pm for our Family Solutions Program Financial Class, where you’ll learn practical tools and information to help you manage your finances and work toward your goals.

A big thank you to TBAKI, LLC for donating school supplies to help local students start the new school year!

This week, students across Limestone County are heading back to the classroom, and we're grateful for community partners who help make sure families have the supplies they need.

If your family could use a few school supplies, stop by the Athens-Limestone County Family Resource Center during our normal business hours. Supplies are available while they last!

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Ladies' Mahjong Group at Canebrake for thinking of the Athens Limestone County Family Resource Center during their Christmas in July celebration!

On July 27th, the group hosted a festive Mahjong event complete with Christmas-themed outfits, holiday mats and tiles, and delicious party food. Along with enjoying a fun day together, they generously collected school supplies and monetary donations to support our Learning Center programs. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping local families and learners succeed!
