TODAY - Thursday, March 11, 2021 – The City of Athens Public Works Department announces City of Athens Recycle Center closure:

The City of Athens Recycle Center will be closed to the public on Thursday, March 11, 2021. The Recycle Center will tentatively reopen for regular operating hours on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Friendly Reminder! The Athens Municipal Building, Public Works, and Animal Shelter will be closed on Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27, 2020 in observance of Thanksgiving. These facilities will re-open Monday, November 30, 2020 during regular business hours.

The Recycle Center will be closed Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27, 2020. This facility will re-open Saturday, November 28, 2020 during regular business hours.

Residential garbage routes for November 23, 24, & 25, 2020 will be on regular schedule.

Thursday, November 26 route will be picked up on the following Monday, November 30 and again on Thursday, December 3.
Friday, November 27 route will be picked up on the following Tuesday, December 1 and again on Friday, December 4.

Please have garbage totes to the road by 7:00 a.m.

Commercial/Industrial garbage routes will be picked up on a limited basis.

ALL EMERGENCY SERVICES WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE ON A 24-HOUR BASIS. CONTACT MCMINN E911 COMMUNICATIONS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.

Great videos done by Ben Burchfield and Kara Knecht with the Athens Public Works Dept (and also our KMB Chair and Vice-Chair!). As part of the Kids Connection program with ACS, virtual tours of the Denso EcoPark and the Wetlands were done. What awesome assets to have right here in our community! Well done, both of you!
