Life the Griot

Lemuel LaRoche, known as Life the Griot, will be the featured reader at Athens Word of Mouth open mic Wednesday August 5 upstairs at the Globe.

In addition to his community work including Chess and Community, LaRoche is a celebrated poet with two impactful books: "Hidden Ripples: Life's Unspoken Language" and "Tree of Life: The Human Ascension." His poetry, influenced by his Brooklyn roots and literary inspirations, continues to resonate deeply with audiences.

Chess boards in an art museum. Students teaching strangers. Strangers becoming students. 🎨♟️

Our Chess & Community kids visited the Museum of Art in Athens and did what they do best. They showed up, they connected, and they brought chess with them. Watching them walk through stunning artwork and then turn around and teach community members how to play was something truly special.

A huge thank you to the of Art for opening your doors and welcoming us in. Your support in creating spaces like this means the world to our students and to our community. 🙏
