It's Throwback Friday, and today we're looking back at one of the many special moments that have been part of the YWCO's story through the years—our Kids Tri the Y Youth Triathlon! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

For generations, the YWCO has provided opportunities for young people to challenge themselves, build confidence, discover their strengths, and create lifelong memories. Events like the Kids Tri the Y Youth Triathlon are a reminder of the impact that happens when a community comes together to encourage and support its youth.

As we celebrate 120 years of service to Athens and the surrounding community, we are grateful for every child, family, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who has helped shape our legacy. These memories are more than moments—they are part of the foundation that has carried the YWCO forward since 1906.

What a wild and wonderful week at Summer Day Camp! 🦁🌿🐒

Our campers had an unforgettable adventure during Jungle Junction week, topped off with an exciting trip to Bear Hollow Zoo! From discovering amazing animals to making new friends and memories, this week was full of exploration, laughter, and fun.

We are so thankful for the experiences that help our campers learn, grow, and connect with the world around them. Jungle Junction was one for the books, and we can’t wait to see where our Passport to Summer takes us next! ✈️☀️ (hint: gold medals not required, but camp spirit definitely is 😉)

For 120 years, the YWCO has been a part of the fabric of our community, growing and evolving alongside the people we serve. From our early beginnings in 1906 to our years in the historic Stevens-Thomas House, and now as a thriving community center serving individuals and families across Athens, our drive has remained constant: creating opportunities, fostering connections, and empowering our community.

The walls may have changed, but the heart of the YWCO has always been the people. Generations of members, staff, volunteers, donors, and families have helped shape who we are today. Every class attended, every child served, every friendship formed, and every life touched has become part of our story.

A huge thank you to Katie and Tina from Emerald & Obsidian for spending time with our campers and staff today! Their passion for reptile education shines through in everything they do, and they made learning about these incredible animals both fun and unforgettable!

We are so grateful for the knowledge, enthusiasm, and hands-on experiences they shared with our campers. Watching them ask questions, explore, and gain confidence while learning about reptiles was amazing!

Katie and Tina, thank you for inspiring curiosity, encouraging learning, and sharing your passion with all of us. We are so thankful for your visit and can’t wait to welcome you back for another amazing day of reptile adventures! 🐍✨

The morning will kick off with a Community Walk as we honor the generations who have helped shape the YWCO into what it is today — and look ahead to the future still to come. After the walk, the celebration continues with vendors, delicious food, music, family fun, and lots of activities for all ages! 🎈☀️

What a fun and rhythm-filled morning at Summer Day Camp! 🥁☀️ Our campers had an amazing visit from Dr. Arvin Scott as they got to learn all about drumming, music, and the creativity behind every beat. From hands-on fun to exciting new skills, the energy was nonstop and the smiles said it all! Thank you, Dr. Scott, for sharing your talent and making today so memorable for our campers! 🎶✨

The first week of Summer Day Camp in Wonderworld has already been filled with so much fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories! None of it would be possible without our amazing lifeguards! ☀️💙

We are beyond thankful for the care, energy, patience, and love they have already poured into our campers this week. From keeping everyone safe to making every pool moment exciting and full of smiles, they truly help make camp so special.

Thank you to our incredible lifeguards for being such an important part of the YWCO summer magic. We appreciate you more than words can say! 🌊✨

Passport to Summer is officially in full swing and what an incredible first day it has been! ☀️✈️🎉

Our campers kicked off the summer with smiles, laughter, new friendships, and so much excitement as we made our very first stop… Wonderworld! 🌎✨ We already know this is going to be a summer full of adventure, creativity, memories, and nonstop fun.

Our staff is ready to welcome you all with open arms on Tuesday! ☀️💙 Yearly staff training was a little more fun this year as we talked about all the memories, laughter, friendships, and adventures that are waiting to be made this summer. From day one, our team has been preparing to create a safe, exciting, and unforgettable experience for every camper.
