Members of our Athens Lions Club conducted vision screening at the Nelsonville Health Fair sponsored by Ohio Health and Athens County Jobs and Family Services on Wednesday, August 19th from 2pm to 3pm which was held at the Stuart's Opera House. Lions Warren Jeffers, Mike Harrington and Ryan Ham conducted the screening - covering both children and adults. Testing methods included distance and near visual acuity (sloan eye charts at 10' and 16" respectively) for children from 2nd grade through adults. Adults were also screened with a questionnaire based upon risk factors and age. Younger children could be screened with the distance visual acuity using a crowded LEA symbol at 5' kit, visual observation / ocular muscle balance and if the child is a male, color deficit testing (aka color blindness). All participants were also screened using the PlusOptix autorefractor that provides the approximate corrective lens prescription for each eye. Four participants were screened for their vision health and all exhibited good vision health!

Thanks to those participants that we willing to have their vision health screened!

In addition, our members passed out a variety of vision health literature related to a wide variety of eye care topics.
