It was an honor to be joined by Secretary of State Tre Hargett at our meeting today!

Mr. Hargett shared information about focused baccalaureate (or Bachelor's) degrees in the state of Tennessee. He explained the history of the "modern" American Bachelor's degree and why focused Bachelor's degrees - which take three years instead of the traditional four years that have commonly become associated with Bachelor's Degrees - can reduce higher education costs while still preparing students for the workforce through an increased emphasis on core courses within a chosen major.

We greatly appreciate Mr. Hargett's time and wish to thank him for joining our club this afternoon!

It was an exciting and eventful gathering at our annual meeting and awards ceremony!

Today, we recognized several Kiwanians for their service to our club with awards, recognizing them not only for their devotion to the Kiwanis Club but most importantly for the service they have poured into the community around them.

Greg Moses also officially passed the gavel to Dr. Tyler Forrest as he was sworn in for the role of club president for the upcoming year. Thank you, Greg, for leading the club for the past year, and welcome, Tyler - we are excited to welcome you as president!

Congratulations to our award winners and to our new and returning officers, and thank you to each and every member that pours their time and heart into supporting the children of McMinn County.

It was both a joy and honor to be joined by Food City CEO Steve Smith at our club meeting today!

Mr. Smith shared insight into the history, operations, and growth of his stores, as well as the business plans they follow, emphasizing Food City's practice of being locally owned and operated. Rusty Rollins, manager of Food City in Athens, also briefly shared his experience about the joy of working in the company.

Attendees shared their thanks with both Mr. Smith and Mr. Rollins for their spirit of giving and their consistent efforts to support communities across the South.

Help us support our local youth!! 🍽️

On Friday, September 18th, stop by and grab a pound of packaged pork and/or two bottles of Gus Bagley's Famous Sauce for only $12! We'll be set up at Market Park Pavilion in downtown Athens from 11am to 7pm (or until we sell out). All proceeds benefit the youth of our community.

A HUGE thank you to our sponsors of our fundraising events, as well as each person who shows up to help us make a difference in our community!

It was a true honor and joy to be joined by Scenic City Trykes at today's meeting!

Scenic City Trykes is a nonprofit located in Chattanooga, TN, that understands the importance of equal opportunity for exercise and recreation for every child. Through providing adaptive tricycles to children with disabilities, they follow a vision in which every child experiences the joy of riding a bike. Today, two precious children from our community were presented with AmTrykes that our club purchased for them. We hope that these children have a blast riding their brand new bikes!

Thank you to Dr. Ashley Schilling for joining us today and sharing the important work happening at Scenic City Trykes!

It was a pleasure to be joined by leaders of McMinn County's MADE Camp today, Lindsey Ferguson, Aryn Stewart, and Joe Barnett!

During MADE Camp, which was hosted by the McMinn County EDA, twenty-nine students explored what careers in manufacturing look like through exciting hands-on activities.

Thank you, Lindsey, Aryn, and Joe, for sharing insight into MADE Camp and reminding us of the importance of pouring into our local youth! We loved hearing how MADE Camp inspired the next generation of engineers and manufacturers!

WOW! What a great morning we had on Saturday! Athens, you sure know how to show up and show out! We are beyond thankful for each and every individual who attended our 66th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, an event that helps us help the youth of Athens. 🥞

It may seem like some batter and syrup from the outside, but the impact of Saturday will extend far beyond the delicious breakfast we shared. THANK YOU to all who attended, served, and shared the word with others. Without you, none of this would be possible!

‘Twas 5 minutes before the breakfast started… We’ll see you soon! 🥞
