Athens Public Education Foundation The foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt philanthropic organization.

APEF was formed to bring innovative learning opportunities to the students of AISD at all grade levels, and to serve as a way for former students to stay in touch with Athens and each other. The Athens Public Education Foundation was formed by a group of caring and committed citizens with a vision to enhance educational opportunities and student success in Athens ISD. A volunteer board of directors composed of business, community, and educational leaders governs the foundation.
