Meet AWP’s Spring 2026 Intern, Emma! Emma is a Master of Public Health (MPH) student at the University of Georgia, concentrating in Epidemiology. Emma is interested in applying the analytic skills that she has acquired in a variety of intensive academic settings toward addressing the most pressing public health problems of today. Emma is intrigued by the prospect of harnessing available health/wellbeing data to answer new research questions. She wanted to work with because of AWP’s model for community health.
“By collecting and analyzing primary data from Athens-Clarke County households, the initiative is bridging gaps in existing datasets and providing community stakeholders with a more comprehensive understanding of the distinctive needs of Athenians. After learning about how AWP’s systematically collected data has been incorporated into strategic planning, policy decisions, and service delivery, I was eager to join the team. My goal is that my analyses will contribute to the organization’s repository of information on the health needs of Athens-Clarke County and influence further community action.”
Emma loves living in Athens. She loves the fantastic music scene here and the many green spaces Athens has to offer (e.g., Ben Burton, Sandy Creek Nature Center, Bear Hollow).
Welcome to the team, Emma!
