We have wrapped the 21st Ohio Brew Week and something that is still stirring in all of us is appreciation!
It’s wild to think that more than two decades ago Jon Sparhawk told Dan Gates to create a week long celebration of craft beer and they DID IT! The FIRST week-long craft brew celebration in the nation started right here in this little town we call Athens, Ohio! And year after year thousands of us fill our bars and breweries and restaurants and partake in the celebrating that idea and what this great town has to offer.
We had our setbacks with the weather impacting many of OBW’s signature events in different ways. We learned more about AQI than we ever hoped to know, watched lightning delay our favorite bands, felt 90+ degree days melt our faces, but through it all everyone kept their smiles!
The reunions still happened, the music played on and we all raised a glass to one of the best parties around, Ohio Brew Week. And we appreciate YOU for being part of it, we do this all for the fans of Ohio Brew Week cause you’re the absolute f**king best!
This will be the last time OBW Executive Director, Brandon Thompson will be doing Last Call and Brew BQ as he will be stepping away from those responsibilities. We hope you’ve had fun the last 11 Brew Weeks on court street. It had to happen and, yes, he’s feeling a certain way about it. But don’t worry you’re in good hands! He’s just passing the baton just like Dan Gates and Weston Lombard did before him to allow for the next step!
We’re already planning for next year, see you all July 9th-July 17th, 2027 in Athens, Ohio for the 22nd annual Ohio Brew Week! We better see YOU there!
