We hope you all are happily settling into the new school year and are staying healthy! GRADS understands how difficult it can be to find ways to have fun and meet new people in graduate school, especially during a pandemic. To help with that, we are offering a virtual game night this Friday! We’ll have a variety of games to choose from (Jackbox games, Pictionary, Read My Lips etc.) and are willing to play any games you all suggest. We hope to see you soon for lots of laughs and a good time!
September, 11th 6pm ET VIA zoom

Our last board member to introduce is Naomi! Naomi Kramer is a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Toxicology Department housed in Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, where she examines how brominated flame retardants and pesticides can affect learning and memory. She currently serves as the Professional Development Chair for GRADS because she believes that everyone should know the options they have for a successful future - especially underrepresented groups in science who might not have been presented with as many opportunities as their peers. When not consumed by her studies (or limited by Covid), Naomi enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book, or playing tennis with friends.

Next up is our Treasurer, Hannah! “Hey everyone!
My name is Hannah and I am the treasurer for GRADS. I'm currently a Ph.D student in the Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program with the Veterinary Biosciences and Diagnostic Imaging department.
I joined GRADS in search of mentorship to navigate the obstacle course of graduate school and found a community that has become an essential part of my life.  Being with such a diverse group of people have not only provided solutions and support when I needed it the most but have also provided many career development opportunities. I hope to lend a hand in creating a future that allows for the same positive experiences for more underrepresented students. Outside of lab, I find joy in exploring the great outdoors, an awesome kickboxing class, and painting.”
