We had a successful work day with a crew from Caterpillar, who gave their time to a variety of farm tasks with our team at Williams Farm as part of the United Way - Northeast Georgia Days of Caring event!

They spent the day harvesting sweet potatoes, bed prep (broadforking, composting beds, w**ding and hoeing, organizing and removing greenhouse parts, w**d eating, cleaning up the area besides the barn in prep for new greenhouse). They were very helpful, kind, curious, and excited to be out on the farm! They all left with bags of produce and enjoyed eating freshly picked sweet peppers.

We owe a thank-you to United Way for organizing this event and Caterpillar choosing to spend their time giving back to the community. Thanks to them, we are able to increase our efforts to address food insecurity in Athens and get fresh produce in the hands of more families.

We had a great time jamming out with this afternoon at Porch Fest! Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Pope Street porch for this incredible set and thank you to Joy Brown, our Williams Farm Manager and the bassist this afternoon, for making it happen!

We ran out of free fresh produce bags from .farm fast, so if you weren't able to grab yours, we invite you to visit us at the farm! We host volunteer work days most Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.

Most of what we grow is donated to food insecure families in CCSD elementary schools, but we are often fortunate to have an abundance to share with our community at volunteer work days, workshops, and community events like Porch Fest!
