Please pray for us because we have had an overwhelming need for housing for mothers with children!

We need some Christian novels for a 17 year old young lady. If you'd like to donate some of your used books, we'd love to have them. They must be Christian authors like Francine Rivers, Max Lucado, Frank Peretti, etc.

We need someone to pick up a fridge and deliver it to a client we recently helped get into a house. We could pay a fee if necessary.

We helped a young mother and her children get into a house, and she is in desperate need of a refrigerator. Please help if you can.

Our Story

A ministry to the homeless and needy in Henderson County. We opened our doors in December 2016 as a “day resource center” for the homeless and needy in our county. While we are not an overnight shelter, we offer a shower, laundry, food bags, lunch, help with doctor and dentist visits, prescriptions, and sometimes we are able to help folks get into housing.

We serve three categories of people here: 1) the homeless on the street with no shelter, 2) the homeless that have no permanent home but that are able to sleep on a friend’s or family member’s couch or porch or garage at night, and 3) folks who have shelter but do not have electricity and/or water. We estimate that we have at least 100 people without a permanent home, and probably that many or more who do not have the basic utilities just in Athens.

The biggest obstacle for homeless and needy is transportation. We know we have many, many more in our county that need our help, but cannot get to us due to a lack of public transportation. Even though the GoBus is available, reservations have to be made a week in advance, and the cost is $8 per round trip. How is a homeless person supposed to be able to do that? So one of our goals is to open “satellite centers” around the county so that more of our needy neighbors can be helped.

We are also wanting to move our ministry to a larger facility so that we can serve more people and begin the process to open an overnight shelter.
