The mission of Wild Earth Camp is to connect children to the natural environment while they learn and have fun. We do this through exploration, play and teaching earth skills like building natural structures, tracking wild animals, crafting, storytelling, and studying birds and native plants. We will spend all of our time outside in the fields, forest and along the stream at the 50-acre Piedmont Preserve located off of Chase St near downtown Athens.

Dear Wild Intelligence Community,

We hope you are doing well and noticing the birds singing and flowers blooming. We are excited to share that we are offering an adult program at Earthsong this summer. We had initially planned to host our summer camp programs, but decided it was in the best interest of the community to cancel this year. It would be too difficult to make sure all campers follow CDC social-distancing recommendations amid the unprecedented risk presented by the pandemic. Due to the situation, we have designed a program for adults only that will be compatible with the advised precautionary practices. We feel that a program like this is particularly relevant for our current time—a time when many people are feeling uncertain and ungrounded. With this program we will be offering people an opportunity to reconnect with themselves in the context of nature. Supported by the guidance of experienced retreat leaders, individuals will be directed to engage in activities designed within the retreat space. Our hope is that these activities will facilitate an experience that is both cleansing and renewing for each person in attendance. Below is a description and you can find further details and register on the Wild Intelligence webpage below.

JOURNEY INTO THE BELOVED

Are you yearning for time in nature, for time to think quietly to yourself and ponder your own thoughts, do you want time to think about what you can do, say, contribute to creating a healthy society, good for all? If any of this is so for you, this retreat might be just what you have been wanting, needing.

As the world has changed, and is changing, can we touch what is sacred within and open to new possibilities that honors all living? Can we feed our own soul and acknowledge all around us as the Beloved? Are we experiencing a rite of passage to a world yet to be and the birthing pains of that passage?

You are invited to ponder these questions as you leave the world that is familiar to be surrounded by nature. Come for two days and one night immersing yourself in the green of the trees, the flowing of the river, the singing of birds and frogs. Come ready to give time and attention to touch that which is deep within, yearning to come forth.

Your tent and hammock, placed along the river, will be waiting for you. There will be time to make a sacred object as a touchstone. There will be time for gathering around an evening fire to share your thoughts of the day. Size is limited to 5 for social distancing when we gather and solitude when retreating. Vegetarian meals are provided...lunch, dinner, breakfast, lunch. You will bring your own linens, sleeping mat, journal, flashlight, drinking cup. Also, we encourage you to have a clear intention of what this time is about for you.

The place is Earthsong (Earthsong.cc) and the cost is $225.00 per weekend. We hope you will be able to join us on one of these weekends.

Safety is a top priority for us. Appropriate social distancing is built into this program. Earthsong has plenty of wooed space along the Middle Oconee River where there is lots of fresh air and sunshine. We will have gathering spaces arranged so that people can sit or stand 6 feet apart. Hand washing stations will be at each solo site and in locations where we eat. We request that you bring many of your own personal supplies that you will need during your stay.

The facilitators are Tina Tinsley, LCSW and Hayley Joyell Smith.
Tina has been blessed to live at Earthsong, a place the indigenous people called the Beloved Land, for the past 20 years and works as a Psychotherapist...a profession that she loves. She is also a Certified Forest Therapist which recognizes and teaches the healing power of nature.
Hayley Joyell Smith is an Earth science teacher who is passionate about guiding people through experiences that raise an awareness of the beauty of the natural world.
