Athens County Creating Healthy Communities Coalition Making the healthy choice the easy choice in Athens County, Ohio. Athens City-County Health Department's CHC Coordinator facilitates the Coalition.

Athens County's Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) Coalition brings together community champions who use their unique perspectives and individual areas of expertise to work toward a common goal of making Athens County a healthier place to live. CHC Coalition members are committed to preventing and reducing chronic disease by improving access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity.

By implementing sustainable, evidence-based strategies through policy, systems and environmental change, CHC is creating a culture of health. The Athens City-County Health Department has participated in the Ohio Department of Health’s Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) program since 2001. Communities across the state are selected to receive grant funding through a competitive process.

Does your child have a disability or an IEP? Do they want to play sports?

The Athens-City County Health Department's Inclusive Sports Working Group is surveying Athens County youth with disabilities to find out if they’d like to play sports, and, if so, what sports they would like to play.

We will use the information from this survey to develop sports programming that welcomes all youth in Athens County.
