We had a great time at the East Tennessee Historical Society Awards of Excellence in Knoxville tonight! Our Society won the History in the Media Award for our "Twilight Tales in Cedar Grove" Cemetery Walking Tour. Jordan Carter won Teaching Excellence, and Jim Swayne won Publication Excellence for his new book about the Old Federal Road. We were missing one cast member from our cemetery walking tour - County Mayor John Gentry - who portrayed Governor Joseph McMinn. He had a prior commitment with his family. Congratulations to all the winners! We appreciate all they do to preserve our history!

Emileigh Brady and Morgan Reavis, hosts of "Ill-Equipped History" Podcast, were invited back by popular demand. They gave another fantastic presentation, this time on the Lost State of Franklin! Had it remained a state permanently, our nation's history may have been very different in more ways than we realize. Check out their podcast! https://open.spotify.com/show/5kDqn38KD36ShKymPItbM7?si=ILHV_kjDTIKUChbsF6SLfg

We also extend our congratulations to Linda Edmonds, this year's recipient of the Reba Bayless Boyer Volunteer of the Year Award!

Dr. Warren Dockter gave a presentation with a unique perspective about the Battle of Kings Mountain at today's meeting! Several McMinn County citizens have ancestors who fought in that battle. It was another great program for America 250 and we look forward to many more in our community and across the country this year!
