Our team at Noir United attended this year’s World bank spring meetings centered on the theme: Africa Speaks, the World Must Listen. This was a powerful crossover between youth, policymakers, directors and ministers serving across various sectors in the World Bank, IMF and national ministries.

Spanning sectors from trade and water security to youth employment and health systems resilience, the conversations grounded in data and reflections serve as motivating reminders that when we focus our collective energies on understanding what is needed for progress, we can contribute to change starting today.

Last week, NoirUnited International Co-founders Macire and Nassim Ashford joined and for a panel discussion on “Borders, Ballots, and Belonging: Policy at the Intersection of Race and Immigration.”

The discussion examined how immigration policy shapes belonging, access, and identity, with a focus on Black and African diaspora communities. From the implications of the SAVE Act to broader questions around enforcement and citizenship, the conversation highlighted the real impact of policy decisions on people’s lives.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

As we close out Women’s History Month, NoirUnited International is honored to bring you Powerful Words by Women of the Diaspora.

Today is the last day of March and we couldn’t think of a better way to end than by amplifying the voices of women whose words have moved crowds, changed conversations, and stood firm in the face of power 🖤🌍.

We had the honor of co-hosting a Pan-African Ramadan Iftar alongside our friends at and .world — a night rooted in solidarity, connection, and care for one another.
This gathering wasn’t just an iftar. It was a reminder that our liberation is bound together. We broke bread with organizations, small businesses, and friends from across the African diaspora — and we raised funds for those impacted by the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
This is what Pan-African solidarity looks like in practice, as Ramadan reminds us: community is our greatest resource 🌙🖤✨

At NoirUnited International, uplifting the women of the African diaspora isn’t just something we do on one day— it’s who we are. But today especially, we want to honor every woman who creates, builds, organizes, rests, dreams, and shows up in ways big and small. You are the heartbeat of our communities, and we thank you. Happy International Women’s Day. 🖤

One year ago, NoirUnited began partnering with Yakub Alfa Suleiman Initiative and a local school in Nima, Accra, Ghana to support their vision for a stronger learning environment.

When we first visited, students were studying in classrooms that were not fully finished. Improving the physical space quickly became a shared priority. This January, we returned to see the progress. Several classroom floors and walls have now been renovated, creating a stronger foundation for teaching and learning, while the broader project continues.

Our focus remains on community-based development and sustained engagement, supporting efforts that are locally led and built for the long term.

Africa’s youth are the future, and investing in young people today is an investment in the continent’s long-term growth and leadership.

We look forward to continuing this work and sharing more updates soon.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a Sudan Round Table Talk in partnership with and an incredible coalition of student organizations at the University of Maryland (.umd, , , ).

We were honored to be joined by our guest speaker, Sudanese activist Ibrahim Addumah, who provided powerful historical context on the war in Sudan and helped ground our discussion in the lived realities of the Sudanese people.

At Noir United, we believe in the strength of empowering youth and uplifting the voices of those whose stories often go untold. We are grateful to have taken part in such meaningful discourse and look forward to continuing to create spaces for dialogue, learning, and collective action.
