Beyond Blessed is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We distribute supplies such as water, snacks, canned goods, bug spray, and toiletries to our homeless friends. We provide blankets, sleeping bags, clothing, propane, tents, and other supplies as needed. We help with

furnishings for those who are fortunate enough to leave camps and move into an apartment. We have provided transportation to job interviews and even transportation to jobs. We get to know our homeless friends and establish relationships. We love on them and share Jesus. We welcome your support of supplies or monetary donations if you have a desire to share your blessings to support our little ministry. We are always in need of resources to help us better serve our homeless friends. The homeless population is growing daily in Athens, AL. They are in hotels, walking the streets, sleeping on a bench, living in a storage building behind someone's house, living in woods, near railroad tracks. They are everywhere and they need our help! Together we can do so much!

This month creates a little confusion for Laundry and Shower Days.

Shower is the second Tuesday of each month and Laundry is the second Wednesday of each month so Laundry normally follows Shower.

But this month(April), because the first day of the month was on Wednesday, Laundry is tomorrow, April 8,2026.

Shower Day will be next Tuesday, April 14,2026.

The grandmother is covered. Comforter is covered. The dad's work boots and work socks are covered.

If you can't do all of a person's wish list but maybe one item, that is fine. Just let me know by Friday what you can do. If you can't shop and want to donate funds, I can order some of the items for them. I can get wrapping paper so they items can be wrapped.

Most of our ministry involves helping those who are homeless but there are times we get those calls for help for some who are housed but almost on the street. We received one of those calls yesterday.

A family of six in a trailer. Dad is working. Walks to work each day! Mom has cancer! Dad's mom lives with them and draws a small check. Three children, two adult. One has major anxiety attacks and lost her job because of it. Other two are special needs children.
Denied disability for kids because dad makes to much....Denied Food Stamps for same reason. But his pay really isn't that much considering the high rent and cost of food, etc.

They have no vehicle so the dad walks to work and the older daughter walks a good distance to get few groceries and meds.

The rent for that trailer is so high and without insulation, the utility bill runs so high!

There were two ladies yesterday who helped with some food bags and their utilities. They are going back today to check on them and help take the daughter to run errands when they need a ride. One of ladies is getting a wish list for a few items for the children for Christmas.

This family was found almost by accident because they did not ask for help. The oldest daughter just asked to come inside a building to get warm and dry(car ran her off road and she fell into ditch and got wet) on her walk to town. A sweet soul asked enough questions to learn their situation. That sweet soul drove her home and from there we got involved as well.

We know there are so many more out there in similar situations. Please pray for all who are struggling to just have the basics and stay housed!!! Times are tough for so many!

I often take for granted just how blessed that me and my family are! Days like yesterday are a reminder of those blessings!

God blessed us to be a blessing to others!!!

When we think of Thanksgiving, we think of time with family.

When I first started this ministry, I had no idea how close some of our homeless are. Many call each other brother and sister!!!

But after a while, I totally understood!!! Many of these friends became a part of my family. I became mom and grandmom to many over the years!

There is one special family member that we will miss this Thanksgiving.......that guy in the first picture wearing that orange Tennessee sweatshirt!!!

Nate became family!!! We spent a lot of time together having long talks! I grew to love him like a son.....The type of love where you praised him at times but also chastised him and became so angry with him for some of his actions!!! He would just give me that "Nate grin" and it would all be okay because we were family!!!

Our Thanksgiving meal this year will be sad because our big guy Nate won't be with us to celebrate! ! As most of you know, this summer Nate passed away!!!

Nate, we love you and miss you every day but we will especially miss you this year at the big Thanksgiving meal!!! We know that you loved a good meal!!!

The candy is in the gift bags for our Thanksgiving meal for our homeless friends!!!

Thanks to all who have donated gift cards that will go in those bags.
We are short cards for 14 bags so if you were planning to donate and just forgot this would be a great time to purchase them.
For those who didn’t see the original post, we are doing gift bags for our friends with candy and gift cards($25-30 amounts) to various restaurants around town.

Thanks for all you all continue to do to help our friends ! I understand if you can’t help with this. Prayng for so many folks in our community who are struggling right now who need help!

Just a thank you post this morning.

The pictures say it best.
Thank you to these awesome folks in our community and to all who donate in any way. We are especially thankful for you prayers for our friends and for our ministry!

When we adopt the quote from Helen Keller”Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much”, I had no idea how real that would become for this Beyond Blessed Homeless ministry!!!
Than you!!!
