Members of the Athens Rotary Club came together to pack 1,200 Full Tummy Bags for students across Limestone County Schools — ensuring kids have nourishing food to take home.

We were especially grateful to be joined by elementary students from Blue Springs Elementary and Elkmont Elementary, who jumped right in alongside our Rotarians. Watching these young volunteers serve their classmates and community was a powerful reminder that "Service Above Self" is a lesson best learned by living it.

A heartfelt thank you to our Community Service Director, Cady Stewart, whose tireless work behind the scenes made this project possible. Cady, your dedication to our community shines through in everything you do — we're so thankful for your leadership!

🎉 Athens Rotary Club is growing!

This past Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kyle Cooper as our newest member! Kyle serves as Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Cybersecurity at Advanced Information Technologies, Inc. in Florence — and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join our fellowship.

Kyle was proposed for membership by fellow Rotarian Glenn Stokes. Glenn, thanks for bringing great people into our club! 🙌

Kyle, welcome to the family. We can’t wait to serve alongside you!

Member Spotlight: Dana Henry

About Dana

Dana Henry brings a philosophy of commitment and intention to everything she does. "I believe in commitment and intention in everything," Dana shares. "I think those things provide structure to life and allow you to better enjoy your life and to find the time to do the things you want. I try to tackle each day with that spirit."

Her Rotary Journey

Dana's path to Rotary began with an invitation from people she deeply respected. "I was asked by people whom I greatly respect and admire, and because I knew the Athens Rotarians to be in the vanguard of most positive things in Athens, I knew it was a commitment I wanted to make."

Since joining, Dana has embraced the full Rotary experience, making herself available for volunteer opportunities whenever they arise. However, she has a particular appreciation for one aspect of club life: "I really enjoy the speakers since they are an opportunity to learn about things I might not otherwise get to know."

Her Advice to Prospective Members

For anyone considering joining Rotary, Dana's message is simple and direct: "I would definitely say to do it and to get involved."

Dana Henry exemplifies the spirit of service and engagement that makes Athens Rotary strong. Her commitment to being present and her enthusiasm for learning from others enriches our club community and furthers our mission of service above self.

We so appreciate the Athens-Limestone Empty Bowls Project support of our upcoming Full Tummy pack.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donating restaurants, potters, artists, and volunteers, the 2026 Empty Bowls luncheon raised $20,000 for organizations addressing hunger in Athens and Limestone County.

A fun time was had by all at the Athens Rotary Mardi Gras Social & downtown parade hosted by Athens Arts League.

Thank you to our amazing social committee for putting on a great event where Rotarians gathered for great food and fellowship. We also had a great entry in the parade as well.

Community at its best. 🎅 The Family Resource Center’s Sweets with Santa brought warmth to families in need. Coats, jackets, visits with Santa, and neighbors taking care of neighbors. Athens Rotary was proud to serve alongside so many who showed up to make this happen.

1,200 bags. 1,200 chances to make a difference.

Our Athens Rotary Club family came together for our Full Tummy project, and the result speaks volumes about this community we love.

These aren’t just bags – they’re full bellies over the holiday break, they’re one less worry for Athens City Schools students and their families, they’re proof that neighbors still take care of neighbors.

To every Rotarian and Athens High School Jazz Band who showed up, packed, sorted, and served: thank you. This is what Service Above Self looks like in action.

To our community partners who helped make this happen: we couldn’t do this work without you.

And to the 1,200 Athens City Schools students who’ll benefit from this project: you matter to us. Athens takes care of its own.
