Our Story
Created in January of 2019, Hats from the Heart Ministry is an outreach project with the purpose of providing a handcrafted hat to every baby born at Athens Starr Regional Hospital. There are so many emotions for families as babies are born in various states of health; some healthy, some sick, and some going to Heaven before ever going home. Additionally, at the time of birthing their baby many parents are dealing with hardships medically, financially, and emotionally. I developed this ministry to provide something useful for the babies and also shower each family with love. We have an annual goal of collecting 500 crochet or knit hats. We accept hats of every color, yarn, pattern, and newborn size. All hats are collected by Dr. Rachel Worley at Athens Pediatrics, 111 Epperson Street, Athens, TN 37303. A tag with “Hats from the Heart Ministry” and Psalm 139 is then attached prior to delivery to the nursery.
