🚨 IMPORTANT NOTICE: This Tuesday, August 4, the Athens-Clarke County Commission will vote on an ordinance that would criminalize sleeping, lying down, or keeping belongings in public spaces, including benches, parks, and greenspaces.

Fining people for having nowhere else to go does not solve homelessness. It creates additional barriers and fails to address the root causes of housing instability.

Athens needs real, evidence-based solutions, not policies that punish people for experiencing homelessness.
