The Garden of FPC

Have a green thumb, or just have thumbs? Then come join the the Community Garden as we prepare for the upcoming planting season. Currently sprouting are Cole vegetables, sweet and hot peppers, and many varieties of tomatoes!

When: Every Wednesday in March and April at 9 am

Where: Meet at the First Presbyterian Church: 5th and Santa Fe in the dining room

Saturday we had a garden blitz clean off. We had 13 volunteers working to clean off The Garden space to be ready to planr in Mid March.

picked lots of green tomatoes and peppers last night before the big frost! 4 kinds of hot vs peppers on the cart. sweet peppers and a few tomatoes to ripen in the counter and some for fried green tomatoes!!

Hot Peppers Anyone? We have Pablemo, jalapeño, Serrano and ceyenne. Loads of them. come by The Garden and pick as many as you want!

We are needing leaves for making compost at The Garden. If you have any you can just bring them by The Garden or I can pick them up in my truck if you messsge me. The Garden is located at 1311 Hickory Street, Atchison. Thanks

With the help is Susan Herman Turnbull and Ralph we raked up the leaves and dead plants to put on the Burn pile. Many trash cans packed full. We also cleared off the 34 nucjets of pine bark and regular mulch to prepare a spot to plant potatoes and early spring garden. Thus is in the last photo and will be used i our fpist system. Also Laura Walters and boys helped on Friday to take down the remaining fences and tomato cages. It is amazing how much a few people can get done in a short time. Thanks everyone.

Thanks to Laura, Tristan and Zander for helping out in the garden this afternoon. We got out all the tomato cages and fences from cucumbers and tomatoes. Tristan was a champion at pulling out those steel posts!!
