🎬 DAY 6 - KIVANI SECONDARY SCHOOL 🎬
⚾ Today we traveled from Nairobi, and through the beautiful rolling hills of Makueni County, to Kivani Secondary School. Kivani was introduced to baseball in about 2016 through the efforts of Baseball 4 Africa. The school quickly rose to the top of the ranks, but the baseball program regressed when schools closed during the COVID pandemic. Baseball was reintroduced by Mr. Patrick Ndunda, who passed it onto the existing coaches and teachers.
⭐ We have been investing in baseball in Makueni County for more than 3 years now, but this was our first visit to Kivani. We began with some breif training, followed by a friendly game – with even the teachers taking part. What we saw there was quite inspiring; the coaches of Kivani Secondary School showed tremendous resilience by maintaining a baseball program through trying times, and the students were very eager to learn.
📦 After completing training, we went to Nunguni to stay at one of our Board Member’s homes. While there, we visited a site where we are hoping to create a more effective, long-term equipment storage facility. We will need your donations to help make it happen – if you are interested, donate using the link below.
🙌 It is always one of the highlights of our time in Kenya when we visit Makueni County. The beauty of both the landscape and the people always leave us feeling inspired and excited for what is to come with the sport.
