Tres OKeefe Scholarship Foundation Richard O’Keefe III, known to most as Tres, was taken from us tragically way to soon on February 12, 2022.

Tres was a 2021 graduate from Atascocita High School, where he played golf throughout his four years there. Tres was well known on the team as the jokester and to our surprise his sophomore year was selected as most improved player. As we pondered ways to keep his memory alive, we thought about the things that meant most to him and how he’d like to be remembered. While Tres was an enormous part of

our life, we know that the Atascocita golf team became like a second family to him for those 4 years. He made the best of friends and shared many great memories and smiles on the courses even when he didn’t have the best of scores. This August 7th on Tres’ 20th Birthday, we are having the Inaugural Tres Memorial Golf Tournament in his memory. All the proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the scholarship fund for future Humble ISD Students for the years to come. We hope in some way all of you can be part of the tournament as a player, sponsor or even a volunteer.

Last week Shanna Martin Lopez and Addi Lopez attended Humble ISD’s Education Foundation Scholarship Dinner, where two recipients were awarded the Richard O’Keefe III “Tres” Memorial Scholarship. The 2026 recipients are Ethan Bergherr and Victoria Vallejo.

Funds raised through the 2022 and 2023 golf tournaments have been placed into an endowment, allowing two students to receive this scholarship each year. Thank you to everyone who made this possible and continues to keep Tres’ memory close to our hearts.
