👋 Meet Recreation Staff, Steven Ernst!

Steven began his recreational career in our Youth Basketball League as a first grader and has graduated into a valuable member of our team as a freshman in college. Starting as a referee in middle school, Steven now works in our Teen Center, supervising local kids and organizing after school activities, and can be found working our special events! Steven is an incredible role model for our Teen Center members and we are grateful for his dedication every day.

⛹️‍♂️Favorite part of the job: Steven's favorite part of his job is interacting with the kids and coordinating activities after school!
🏀Outside of work: In his free time Steven enjoys playing basketball!

Meet Nikki! Nikki brings 25 years of experience in the wellness industry and holds a BS in Exercise and Sport Science. As a lifelong, passionate fitness advocate, Nikki loves sharing her joy for movement with others and seeing the joy movement can bring.

Join Nikki for Hula Hoop Fitness and Yin Yoga every Tuesday at the Colony Park Community Center!

🏀It's Time to Lace Up: Registration is OPEN for Winter Youth Basketball!

Registration is now open for our Winter Youth Basketball League! Whether your child is a first-time player or an experienced shooter, our program focuses on having fun, learning the fundamentals, and building great teamwork.

$121 Residents/ $133 Non-Residents.

✨Meet Our Team!✨

👋 Meet Recreation Staff, Ethan Fanning!

Ethan has been with the Rec Team for almost three years but had been officiating youth sports for many years prior. Whether he's showing up for a shift in youth or adult sports, Teen Center, special events, etc., Ethan keeps a calm and positive attitude which projects onto other staff and patrons. Ethan goes above and beyond to get the job done and stays steady and focused under pressure. Ethan's work ethic is incredible, and his funny jokes make the hard situations easier to get through.

👥Favorite part of the job: Being able to be an active part of the community.
🏂Outside of work: Ethan enjoys snowboarding!

Ethan has been a valuable part of our team for many years and will be beginning his college career at Boise State University this fall! We are sad to see Ethan go but are proud and excited for this huge milestone in his life. Ethan, we wish you the best on this next chapter and, if we're lucky, we hope to see you back over Summer! We'll miss you Ethan!

UPDATE (8.14 at 3:06 pm): Power fully restored at City Hall, however, will remain closed for the remainder of the day.

UPDATE (8.14 at 1:11 pm): Colony Park Community Center now has power!

(Initial Post) City Hall and the Colony Park Community Center are currently without power and will be closed until the power is restored. PG&E is currently working to restore power, with an estimated restoration time of 1:15 PM.

Meet Dottie! Dottie found skating in her late twenties and never looked back. What started as shaky first steps turned into roller derby, coaching, and building community. As founder of Doomsday Skate, she creates inclusive, no-pressure spaces focused on progress over perfections. Her mission: help people reconnect with confidence. Doomsday Skate's vision is to encourage the world to skate, with a particular focus on creating local roller opportunities and promoting enjoyable and inclusive fitness options. They are committed to providing low barrier access to roller skating while providing more pathways to fitness and health.

✨Meet Our Team!✨

👋 Meet Recreation Coordinator, Trey Gamble!

Trey started working in Recreation at 16 years old as a part-time staff who assisted in the Teen Center, scorekeeping, and special events. He then became full-time as our Office Admin in 2023 then became our Sports Recreation Coordinator in 2025. Trey helps manage all part-time staff, organizes and coordinates all City sports programs, and coordinates field usage, all with a smile!

🏀Favorite part of the job: Trey's favorite part of his job is getting to see the youth develop as players and people in all of our sports programs!
🐈Outside of work: Trey enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their three cats.

We are grateful to have Trey on our team!

🌊Summer Isn't Over Yet: Make Waves This August With the 2026 Sunday Aquatics Schedule!

With our regular 2026 Summer Aquatics Schedule coming to an end, we're excited to announce our new Sunday Aquatics Schedule for all of August!

🏊Join us this Sunday, August 2nd, for Rec & Lap Swim from 10:15am to 2:45pm. Regular programming will continue the following Sunday, August 9th, with Private Swim Lessons from 10:15-10:45am and 11-11:30am and Rec & Lap Swim from 12-2:45pm. Regular programming will run every Sunday from August 9th through August 30th.

✅Registration is OPEN for Sunday Private Swim Lessons. Lessons will run every Sunday from August 9th through August 30th and will last 30 minutes each. Limited space is available.
