ΑΚΤΙΝΑ FM® today August 9th, pays tribute and remembers the life and contributions of the late legendary Greek singer Yiorgos Zografos. Tune in at 14:10 E.T., to, www.aktinafm.org for our Sunday show “Musical Portraits.” Following this series, stay tuned for our series, “CYPRUS HORIZONS” as we revisit the history of the renowned castle “Othello’s Tower” in the old walled city of Famagusta under occupation since 1974.

About George Zografos: He was an actor and among the most representative singers of the New Wave era in the mid 1960’s. He collaborated with all of the renowned Greek composers of his time including Notis Mavroudis, Giannis Markopoulos, Manos Hadzidakis and Mikis Theodorakis. The song “Akri Den Echei O Ouranos” (The Sky Has No End) by Notis Mavroudis posted below is among his exceptional hits. His early life was filled with sadness and so was his passing. He was found dead by one of his friends in his apartment on August 12, 2005 after Zografos was missing for about 15 days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOV_7ePbI6M
