AKTINA TV™ Report highlighting the 2026 Greek Parade. Watch Greek pride unfolding on New York's Fifth Avenue. Elena Maroulleti, Executive Producer and Host of AKTINA takes you right to the heart of this annual spectacle! As promised, our cameraman Tom Stouras made sure to film delightful "Greek dogs" proudly marching alongside their owners. Organized by the Federation of Hellenic Societies with the theme 205/250, this 87th Parade commemorated the 205th anniversary of the 1821 Greek Revolution and the upcoming 250th anniversary of the 1776 American Declaration of Independence. https://youtu.be/cVWyZhUk0CM
Plenty of highlights showcasing marchers, floats, marching bands, candid interviews with dignitaries, officials, and spectators alike. The march of the Evzones was most captivating along with the impressive performance of the Korakiana Philharmonic "Spyros Samaras" of Corfu, Greece.
Beyond celebrating Greek independence and honoring the heroes of the past, the parade also serves as a platform of awareness addressing the ongoing national issues of Greece and Cyprus, including the 1974 Turkish invasion and continued occupation of northern Cyprus. The Federation of Cypriot American Organizations with its chapter members vividly displayed on their float this ongoing injustice.
