The North Oregon Coast Symphony will once again present a concert of small ensembles performing classical music at St. Catherine Episcopal Church in Nehalem.

Queentet—a string quartet plus clarinet—returns to the stage with their masterful interpretation of Mozart. The FAB Piano Trio—violin, cello, and piano—will perform a popular piece by Astor Piazzola, and a contemporary piece by Elena Kats-Chernin. The Northwest Flute Trio will present the moving melodies of James Hook, and a Celtic Suite by Herman Beeftink. Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel will be performed by a piano and cello duo. Rounding out the afternoon will be five beautiful, and often intricate, bagatelles for piano and clarinet by Gerald Finzi.

The concert will take place on Saturday, October 10th at St. Catherine Episcopal Church, 36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, Oregon, beginning at 3 pm.

There will be no fee for admission, but donations are gratefully accepted.

The North Coast Chorale is having a great time!

The Chorale assembled for rehearsal. Working on The Messiah and pieces for our Nature-themed winter concert. Some of us will be caroling and of course singing at the Liberty for White Christmas in December. This is going to be an active season for the Chorale!

We appreciate everyone who completed a survey to give us feedback on the Vocal Arts Festival last August. The responses were overwhelmingly positive with 94% of respondents giving us a five-star rating on the quality of the performers and performances. Word of mouth and a connection to the performers was given as the most likely reason people attended. Patrons remarked that they were pleased to see young people engaged in the performances and especially commented on the Young Voices performance as appealing.

We plan to use the information we received to enrich next year's festival. In the meantime, don't miss CCO's presentation of Ping and Woof's production of Menotti's "The Medium" this month.

Attention orchestra musicians!

The North Oregon Coast Symphony (NOCS) is seeking additional violinists, bassists, percussionists, and horn players for our upcoming season. Founded in 1994, we are a community orchestra with the mission to bring live classical music performances to audiences along the North Oregon coast for the benefit of the musical arts and education in our community.

We currently have 38 members, and rehearse weekly on Tuesday evenings in Seaside from 6:30-8:30 pm. We present three concert series per season, and perform two concerts per series. We perform in Nehalem, Seaside, and Astoria. Musicians need to bring their own instrument and music stand, play at the advanced high school level (no audition required), and be able to regularly attend rehearsals. There is always opportunity for carpooling from the far flung areas of the North Coast (members currently come from as far away as Astoria and Bay City). Come join us, make new friends, and have fun playing with others!

Please visit our website to learn more about our history, see concert dates for the 2026-27 season, and to hear recordings from past concerts:
