Following Mass at Most Precious Blood Church in Astoria (held for all our members living and deceased), a meeting and holiday celebration was held at Rudar Club.

Wonderful afternoon spent talking to each other and enjoying good Croatian food. Our dessert table was impressively filled with home-baked sweets - much appreciated by all! We even had time to play a few rounds of Bingo.

Wishing all of our members and their families a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

Happy Spring to all of our members. Today’s meeting agenda included elections for the club. The results are in!! Our existing officers re-elected for another 2 year term.

It was nice to get the members together for some fun (congrats to our bingo winners), good food and time to share new memories and reminisce over old stories.

We are happy to announce that the application process for the Domovina Birthright Program 2024 is now open. The program will be held from June 14 - 28, 2024 in Croatia.

This 14-day summer school is an experiential learning program for young adults of Croatian heritage in the diaspora who would like to learn more about their Croatian heritage, explore the beauty and excitement of all regions of Croatia, connect with their Croatian identity, and meet other young Croatian adults.

The program is organized in collaboration with the Central State Office for Croats Abroad.

Dušni dan ili Spomen svih vjernih mrtvih obilježava dan nakon Svih svetih, 2. studenoga.
Nastao je inicijativom sveca, benediktinskog opata iz Clunyja, svetog Odilona. Krajem 1. tisućljeća, već se na mnogim mjestima nakon blagdana Svih svetih slavio i spomendan mrtvih. Taj spomendan 998., sv. Odilon službeno je uveo u Cluny, o kojem je bilo ovisno oko tisuću benediktinskih samostana. Preko benediktinaca, blagdan se proširio po Europi.
Vatikan je službeno potvrdio ovaj blagdan 1311.
