This past weekend, OTA proudly hosted the Oregon TRIO Educational Justice & Civic Leadership Conference, bringing together 22 TRIO student leaders from across Oregon for a powerful day of learning, advocacy, and community building ✨
Students engaged in training focused on civic engagement, racial equity, educational justice, and power building alongside incredible partners including Capaces Leadership Institute and Race Forward. Throughout the day, students strengthened their leadership skills, explored systems-level change, and began developing advocacy projects they will continue implementing in their local communities throughout 2026.
Moving forward, these students will take what they learned back to their schools and communities by leading projects centered around educational justice, equity, and advocacy; creating real impact across the state of Oregon.
We are also incredibly thankful to Aimee Kotek for spending a portion of the day with our students and supporting them throughout this educational journey. Her time, encouragement, and investment in Oregon’s young leaders meant so much to our TRIO community.
We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping into their voices as leaders and advocates for educational equity across Oregon. The future of Oregon TRIO leadership is bright 💚
