Illinois Inter-Agency Athletic Association The IIAA is a non-profit organization that provides sports and recreation for youth in residential treatment facilities, children's homes, and foster care.

The first IIAA games were organized by three people following their intuition, their sense that the virtues of good sportsmanship, made meaningful in a competitive environment, would benefit participants. Over 35 years, those instincts have been validated by reports, researched and published by university-level educators. Founding fathers Tom Newman, Father John Smyth and Ted Amlong, each working at different children’s homes in various parts of the State, formed the concept of what is today known as the Illinois Inter-Agency Athletic Association. They recognized the medium of sport as an important socializing context and the power of teaching through recreation. Together they formed a network of agencies across the State seeking to provide opportunities for youths residing in residential treatment centers to compete and socialize together. In 1979, through funding from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the IIAA was able to hire Tom Corr as its Executive Director. Hiring an executive director provided the foundation for an expanded state-wide organization, now consisting of the Northern, Chicago, Western, Central, and Southern regions of Illinois. Tom Corr retired 12/31/16. David Dance is now the IIAA Director.

This was so much fun with youth from Onarga and Garden of Prayer. We have another one coming up in a couple of weeks on Thursday October 22nd from 4:30pm-6:00pm at Kemmerer Village for any agency that would like to attend.

On Tuesday September 22nd the IIAA held its annual Carnival at Kemmerer Village. Several agencies including Kemmerer Village, STAC, Cunningham Children's Home, Peoria Youth Farm and more were in attendance for this exciting event. Kids enjoyed bounce houses, an obstacle course, carnival games, character meet and greets, face painting, snowcones,popcorn, and winning many prizes!

The weather had other plans last Saturday at Allendale as we were scheduled to do our fishing rodeo in Lake Villa. The IIAA still held a picnic and a fun game of Sportsmanship Bingo in Allendale's gymnasium for the youth on campus. Mercy Home also joined in on the fun. Youth also enjoyed some boardgames and card games as well. Kids left happy and had opportunities to win lots of awesome prizes from Bass Pro Shop.

Our Salem4Youth soccer team came away with a 6–0 victory last Thursday! We’re proud of the teamwork, effort, and determination our boys showed on the field.

Fun experience at Illinois State University Adelaide Street Field last night with Cunningham Children's Home and Kemmerer Village. Former Division 1 Illini star, Kendall Bostic, spent part of her afternoon yesterday teaching the game of basketball to the IIAA youth who reside in Children's Homes throughout the state. We had a great turnout and the kids left happy.
