💙 “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.” — Morrie Schwartz

Many of us remember Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom’s beautiful true story about reconnecting with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, as Morrie was living with ALS. Their Tuesday visits became one final “class”—a series of lessons about love, family, compassion, giving, and what truly matters in life.

Morrie’s words have stayed with millions of readers, but this one seems especially meaningful: “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.”

That belief—that the love we give and the difference we make in the lives of others can continue long after us—is very close to the heart of B.E. Strong 716.

We were proud to be a 💙 Blue Sponsor of this past Wednesday’s Agents of Hope Charity Tournament for ALS, hosted by ERA Team Real Estate.

And, of course, Team B.E. Strong was happy to get out on the course and play in the tournament, too! ⛳️💙

💙 A Little B.E. Strong 716 Blue in SHADES OF PINK 🎀

1 in 8.

That’s the number of women in the United States who will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, according to The American Cancer Society.

Think about that for a moment. Look around at your friends, your family, your coworkers, your golf partners. Chances are, breast cancer has touched someone you know and love.

That’s why this past Friday, B.E. Strong 716 was so willing to be a sponsor of the annual Shades of Pink golf fundraiser hosted by Steve and Anne Sischo, founders of the Shade of Pink Fund at the WCA Foundation .⛳️

There is something special about seeing a golf course filled with people coming together for more than just a day of golf. Events like this bring people together to support those who are fighting, honor those who have survived, remember those we have lost, and help make a difference for families whose lives have been forever changed by breast cancer.

For B.E. Strong 716, these are exactly the kinds of opportunities we are grateful to support. Every sponsorship and every donation is another way we can take something that began from tremendous loss and use it to bring some good into the lives of others.

“When Life Comes Full Circle”

There are moments in life that remind us just how connected we all are.

Years ago, a young man named Dylan Lundmark was not only a friend of Bannon’s when they were younger, but also one of my students and a dedicated member of the Southwestern Central School District wrestling team. I remember him putting himself on a strict diet and exercise routine to make sure he made weight each week. His discipline stood out.

Fast forward to today, and Coach Dylan Lundmark is leading the Southwestern Trojans Wrestling program.

As a teacher, I had the privilege of seeing firsthand the impact “Coach Lundy” (as the kids call him) has on his wrestlers—not only helping them become better athletes, but better students and young men as well. Whenever I reached out because a student needed a little extra encouragement, accountability, or motivation in the classroom, “Coach Lundy” was always willing to help. We worked together to support kids who simply needed someone to believe in them and give them that extra push to succeed.

That’s exactly what high school athletics should be about.

Because of that, B.E. Strong 716 was happy to support the Southwestern Wrestling Program by making a donation and participating in this weekend’s golf tournament. Investing in coaches who invest in our kids is an easy decision, and we’re grateful for everything Coach Dylan Lundmark and the entire Southwestern Wrestling family do for these young athletes.

Near and Dear to My Heart 💙

This past weekend, B.E. Strong 716 was proud to be a sponsor of Jamestown Area Midget Football League - JAMFL Golf Fundraiser—an organization that will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Midget Football was such a big part of our lives when Bannon was young. It was about so much more than football: It was where he spent countless hours growing, competing, laughing, and building friendships. Many of the childhood friends who became such an important part of Bannon’s life began there.

Those were the fields where he played.
Where he grew.
Where he laughed.
Where friendships began.
And where so many memories were made. 💙

Giving back through B.E. Strong 716 to an organization that gave so much to our family all those years ago is emotional in ways that are difficult to put into words.

I’m so grateful to be able to give back in Bannon’s memory, even though I wish more than anything that he were still here to be part of it.

A special thank you to two guys we consider family--Pat Macintyre and Johnny Salvaggio--for bringing their "A Game" to the course and supporting B.E. Strong 716. (If only I could learn to putt ;).

Days like this are exactly why B.E. Strong 716 exists—to keep Bannon’s memory alive by giving back to the community that was such an important part of his life. 💙

⛳️ A Special Day for All for Amy & B.E. Strong 716 💙

This weekend was a special one as B.E. Strong 716 was pleased to, once again, be an outstanding sponsor for the All For Amy Golf Tournament, held in loving memory of Amy King, whose life was tragically lost in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

This year marked the 20th and final tournament. Hats off to Tonie D’Angelo, Theresa Jackson, and the entire All for Amy committee for putting on such a fun tournament year after year, while raising thousands of dollars for the All for Amy Fund. What a wonderful legacy.

This year was especially meaningful to me personally—sharing the course with my good friends Mike Peters and Jerome Davis . . . as well as Anthony Gullo, one of Bannon’s childhood friends.

Anthony and Bannon grew up together on the North Side, spending countless days at each other’s homes and enjoying many fun times together with our families. Those memories will always hold a special place in my heart. Having Anthony on our team brought a little piece of Bannon to the day and made an already meaningful tournament even more special.

With three great golfers by my side, grinding out to third place🏆⛳️ was the perfect icing on the cake.

I am so grateful that B.E. Strong 716 could be a part of this final tournament and help support a cause that has done so much good for so many years.

Two organizations born from unimaginable loss, both choosing to honor the lives of those they love by giving back and making our community stronger.

Amy and Bannon—two dearly-loved individuals who never knew each other—but who will always be remembered, always missed, and always inspiring us to do good in their names. 💙

💙 When Small Acts Create Big Memories

As we wrapped up Fourth of July weekend with family, I found myself reflecting on two simple acts of kindness that made the holiday even more memorable—especially for my six nephews and one niece visiting from out of town.

The first came from “Wieners on the Water”—Vince Liuzzo (Ashville Bay Marina) and his brother—who went out of their way to make the kids feel special: They made a special delivery of children’s shirts so each of them could take one back home. They even welcomed the Georgia boys aboard the boat for photos.

The second came from our wonderful neighbors, Dr. Vejendla and his wife, Uma, who surprised the entire neighborhood by bringing in Off the Stick by Cups & Cones and treating everyone to free ice cream on a beautiful summer afternoon. Watching neighbors of all ages gather together, laughing, visiting, and enjoying something so simple was a reminder that kindness has a way of bringing people together.

Neither of these gestures was expected. Neither was necessary. Yet both made our Fourth of July brighter.

These are the moments that remind me why I believe so deeply in the mission of B.E. Strong 716. Making people feel seen, creating joy, and showing kindness—often in the smallest ways—can have a lasting impact.

To Vince Liuzzo and the Wieners on the Water crew, and to Dr. Vejendla, Uma, and Off the Stick by Cups & Cones—thank you for making our holiday extra special and for reminding all of us that the smallest acts of kindness often leave big impressions. . . and big memories. 💙

Finding Your “Golf” 💙⛳

One of the questions I’m asked most often by grieving individuals is, “What has helped you?”

There isn’t a magic answer. Grief isn’t something we get over—it becomes something we learn to carry. But one thing I have discovered is that finding a healthy outlet and surrounding yourself with good people can make all the difference.

For me, one of those outlets has been golf.

When Bannon died, I wasn’t looking for a new hobby. I was simply trying to survive each day. Somewhere along the way, golf became more than a game. It became therapy. A few hours outdoors. A reason to laugh. A chance to focus on something other than loss. Friendships that reminded me life still held moments of joy, even while my heart continued to ache.

That’s one of the messages behind B.E. Strong 716. Strength isn’t pretending we’re okay. Strength is finding ways to keep living while honoring the people we love and miss every single day.

Yesterday was one of those golf days that became an unexpected blessing: My partner, Michelle Koresko, and I worked our best golf game to take 1st place in the 2026 South Hills Ladies Member-Member Tournament. 💙

While I’m so grateful for the win, what means even more to me is what the day represented: Sunshine. Friendship. Healthy competition. Countless laughs. And another reminder that allowing yourself to smile again is not leaving your loved one behind—it’s carrying them with you into every new memory you make.

If you’re grieving today, I hope you find your version of golf. Maybe it’s gardening, cooking, walking, music, volunteering, or simply spending time with people who remind you that life can still hold moments of peace.

We don’t honor our children by stopping our lives—we honor them by doing what they would want us to do: not give up and continue to try to live the best life possible until we see them again.

Yesterday, Team B.E. Strong 716 was honored to support Southwestern Youth Football & Cheer at their golf scramble fundraiser.

What made this donation especially meaningful was presenting it to Tanner Delahoy, the Flag Football Coordinator…and one of my former students.

As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than watching your students grow into adults who choose to invest in the next generation. Seeing Tanner give back to the community through youth sports was a full-circle moment that reminded me why I love this community so much.

Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to make this fundraiser a success. We are always happy to support organizations that are making a positive difference in the lives of our local children.

And because every golf outing should include a little laughter…our team proudly came home with the Last Place Trophy 🏆…along with a free golf lesson! 😂 Proof that sometimes finishing last still has its perks!
