The Signature Class spent last Friday diving into Ashtabula County’s rich past during History & Heritage Day, exploring the people, places, and stories that built the foundation of our community.

From the Native American influence on our nation’s beginnings to the Underground Railroad and the architecture that tells our story, the class traveled across the county visiting landmarks like the Hubbard House, Conneaut Arts Center, Conneaut Historical Society, and Jefferson Depot.

It was a day of discovery, reflection, and connection, understanding how our shared history continues to shape the leaders of today.

Youth LEADERship October Day: Agriculture & Sustainability

Our YL participants spent the day exploring the vital role agriculture plays in Ashtabula County!

The day began at the OSU Extension Office before heading to Rustler Ranch and Gale Farms, where students learned about livestock, row crops, and the daily life of local farmers.

Through interactive activities, hands-on learning, and thoughtful reflection, students discovered how sustainability connects to leadership and community well-being.

Thank you to Day Chairs Suzanne Westlake and Amanda Barnum for creating such a meaningful day, and to everyone who helped make it possible!

YL2’s October Day was one to remember!

The group kicked things off at Grand River Academy with a “Future Me” personal development session before heading to Cleveland for a guided tour of the James A. Garfield Memorial at Lake View Cemetery and a lively scavenger hunt through West Side Market.

This experience blended history, culture, and leadership in action.

Thank you to everyone, including our volunteers Laura Boniface and Keri Hayes, for making the day such a success!

That lesson connects every part of LEADERship Ashtabula County, from the Signature Class to Youth LEADERship and YL2. Each program challenges participants to take steps that lead to growth, confidence, and community impact.
