The Keoekel family (Michaela & John, with daughters Harper and Hazel), spoke at the Ashland Optimist breakfast this morning about little Harper’s medical journey with Capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM). This syndrome is a rare genetic disorder featuring flat pink-to-red skin spots, abnormal fast-flow blood vessel connections, and mutations in the RASA1 or EPHB4 genes. The Optimist building was recently used for a “Hurts Donuts Fundraiser) to assist with the family’s medical costs. This is what Optimists as “Friend of Youth” is all about! ❤️

Ashland Optimist President Ernie Wren presents twelve $20 Scooter gift cards to Ashland Police Chief Scott Young for the department’s officers and staff as part of the club’s “Respect for Law” program.

Optimist International’s "Respect for Law" program is a global initiative designed to encourage youth to appreciate the role of law enforcement, promote civic responsibility, and inspire peaceful, non-violent communities.
