Sometimes mentorship looks like this. Real relationships, meaningful moments, and building confidence through cookies and conversation 🤍

Easy fuel to have on hand for busy young athletes 🍳

Egg Bites:
* 6 eggs
* 1 cup cottage cheese
* Any seasoning you like

Blend together. Pour into greased muffin tin and add mix-ins your athlete enjoys!

I used tomatoes, green chiles, chicken sausage, and topped with a little cheese.

Bake at 350 for 20-23 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean)

Fuel! You can't run a Ferrari on empty and the same goes for our athletes. Providing enough fuel for competitive athletes is essential to meeting their full potential. It's also a part time job! For our athlete breakfast consisted of a croissant that fed her soul, 2 eggs and avocado. We don't always get to the rainbow for breakfast, but make sure she is eating the rainbow the rest of the day. For lunch: chicken tamale, veggie loaded salad with flaxseed and sunflower seeds, a mixture of apple, kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, a drinkable Oikos protein packed yogurt and a FULFIL protein bar (always chocolate salted caramel). And a FuLL water bottle. I'm constantly thinking about what to feed my athlete to ensure she has the energy for her level of output.

Be brave, not perfect. Perfection robs us of consistency. It keeps us from growing. Bravery is showing up knowing we won't be perfect. Bravery is showing up in real life.

The best way to learn is to teach—our mentees spent the afternoon teaching their mentors how to build a performance plate. This group now understands the difference between fueling for the human being and human doing!

Today a small, but mighty group of 12 year olds started their mentoring journey with UHP. Mentors wrote a letter to their 12 year old selves that their mentees discovered first thing. What a powerful journey these athletes will share together.

As a mental health therapist, I have many collegiate athletes come to me towards the end of their sports career worried about who they are without sports. Worried about how they will function because they have placed so much of their worth on performance. Together we talk about the sacrifices they have made and those they wish they hadn’t.

At UHP we know how much sport can give and take from us. These are two questions our young athletes will be answering as they begin their competitive sport careers so they have a gauge to help them stay in alignment with that young girl that loves the game. This is how we reduce self-abondonment which will keep them LOVING the sport and themselves!
