This is the fifth year the clinics have been sponsored by the Julie Ditty Qualls Foundation in her honor. Julie, who had a successful career as a professional tennis player, passed away in 2021 at the age of 42 from breast cancer. Throughout her career, she frequently gave free clinics to promote the sport she loved and help children in the community. Last year’s clinic included 300 participants along with 40 instructors/volunteers – many of whom Julie taught.

T-shirts will be available for sale and Kona Ice will be on-site.

To register or for more information about the foundation, go to juliedittyquallsfoundation.com.

If you are interested in being an instructor or volunteer, please contact Amy Lochow at [email protected].

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Julie Ditty Qualls Memorial Scholarship. Bryson Hill - Russell. Reagan Hayes - Ashland Paul Blazer. This $1000 scholarship is given by ATC/GATA to two 16th region seniors who fill out applications and are selected by a committee. This scholarship is in honor of Julie Ditty Qualls who played at Russell High School. Julie went on to play on the WTA professional tour and played in all 4 grand slams. She returned to this area and was passionate about teaching the game she loved. She started the Julie Ditty Qualls free tennis lessons for juniors. These free clinics are still held every summer in her honor.
