Talent doesn’t disappear because of an arrest or conviction record.

As a Directly Impacted business owner, Tony Justich of Tuk-Tuk Fusion knows this firsthand. When people with records have access to meaningful work, they can support their families, contribute to their communities, and build stable futures. That’s why Tuk-Tuk Fusion gives preference to hiring others with similar lived experience.

We’re grateful to business leaders like Tony who use their own journey to uplift others and champion fair access to opportunity.

Hello Chequamegon Bay area!

A few months back we introduced our Free Pantry outside of our Reintegration Center here in Ashland. We're putting out the call for donations as our shelves are looking a little bare.

Our pantry is available 24/7/365 and is open to all with no questions asked. We are especially in need of ready-to-eat items and shelf stable items such as cereals.

Small donations can be placed directly in the pantry or if you would like to do a delivery or drop off a larger quantity, just send us a quick message. Financial donations are greatly appreciated at www.free-wisconsin.org/donate and you can include "Food Pantry" in the memo if you want your money to go directly towards food and personal hygiene items for the pantry. Thank you everyone that has been supporting and donating, you make this program possible!

As always, Live Free!

Our Executive Director was so glad to meet all the wonderful individuals and other groups that came out to the Volunteer Fair the other day.

We were able to recruit some volunteers and talk to some others about possible board service. Above all, just talking to people about justice impacted individuals and their place in the community, how being part of the community can empower better choices, was so rewarding!

Thank you so much to Head of the Lakes United Way and all the people that made this event happen. The Fat Radish put out an excellent spread. Appreciate everyone's hard work!

If you didn't know, this is your reminder! April 7 is election day and if you are justice impacted and done with supervision, your right to vote has been restored! You can click the QR code in the image to find your local polling place. Make your voice heard and get out there and vote!

The State of Wisconsin takes away the right to vote for people incarcerated under a sentence and those on supervision. However, once you're done with that sentence, you have the RIGHT to be heard on who makes the laws and enforces them. Take back this basic freedom that has been denied you or your loved ones!

This constitutional change is long over due! Cash bail is an atrocity that disproportionately affects those of limited means and minorities. Individuals can sit for months or years waiting for a case to be resolved while they lose jobs, friends, and housing all before they are ever convicted of a crime.

This has long been an issue and needs to be addressed. When the low wages that can be earned by prisoners (if there is a position available) combined with high deductions for court costs or medical copays can make it impossible to order basic necessities let alone send letters to friends and loved ones.

People incarcerated in Wisconsin’s jails and prisons have to pay for medicine, hygiene items, laundry, phone calls, entertainment and even health care. But with wages as low as 12 cents an hour, many go without — or go into debt.

It's been close to a year since a judge ordered Wisconsin's Department of Corrections to put in place a program for incarcerated moms and their infants. But the ACLU says the prison system has yet to make meaningful progress toward complying with that mandate.
