This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

At In a Soldier’s Shoes Foundation, we honor their legacy by continuing to walk alongside our veterans every step of the way by providing essential items, hosting ruck marches, and creating meaningful support for those who served.

Today, we remember the fallen, honor the heroes, and recommit ourselves to serving those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Land of the free because of the brave. ❤️🤍💙

15 schools. One mission. 🇺🇸

The 2026 In A Soldier’s Shoes season brought together students from universities across the country to step into the shoes of our nation’s service members through ruck marches, community, and purpose-driven action.

This season, together we achieved:

• Nearly 1,000 participants
• 4,000+ miles marched and rucked
• $138,000+ raised for veterans in need
• 15 events hosted across 15 universities

What started as individual steps became a larger movement dedicated to supporting veterans and raising awareness for the sacrifices they carry every day.

To every participant, volunteer, partner, donor, veteran, and supporter — thank you for making this season unforgettable.

But the mission doesn’t stop here.

Veterans across the country still need support, and every donation helps us continue creating real impact in their lives.

Support the mission and help us continue serving those who served us:

This past Saturday at Ohio University 🇺🇸

60 participants. 355 miles rucked. Nearly $10,000 raised in support of veterans.

But beyond the numbers, it was the perspective gained along the way. Those who took on the 12-mile ruck experienced just a fraction of the weight our service members carry every day —and that realization is what this mission is all about.

This is more than a ruck. It’s a chance to understand, to reflect, and to support those who have served.

We’re grateful to everyone who showed up and made this event meaningful.

This past weekend took us to SUNY Fredonia, Penn State Behrena, Miami University, and the University of Cincinnati, where more than 200 participants stepped up to take on the challenge.

Across all four stops, over 750 miles were rucked and more than $19,000 was raised in support of veterans.

We heard from undergraduate Kappa Sigma brothers at the University of Cincinnati and SUNY Fredonia who took part in the 12-mile ruck. Each of them shared a similar realization: the physical challenge they experienced was only a fraction of what our service members carry every day.

Through the miles, participants walked away with a renewed sense of gratitude and a deeper respect for the men and women who serve our country.
What stands out most isn’t just the distance covered or the dollars raised, it’s the shift in perspective that happens along the way.

In a Soldier’s Shoes exists to bridge that gap, providing support to veterans while creating opportunities for others to better understand the weight of service.

Each step taken is a reminder of something bigger than the event itself.

This is more than a ruck, it’s a shared experience with real meaning behind it.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to be part of it and help move the mission forward.

This past weekend, the mission kept moving forward🇺🇸
Across Ashland University, University of Akron, and Muskingum University:
👟160+ participants
🎒910 miles rucked
💰$73,000 raised
But the real impact goes beyond the numbers.
One student saw what we were doing at Akron and jumped in -pushing himself to complete all 12 miles. That’s what this is about.
We also heard from a veteran now leading the next generation through the Air Force JROTC
“Red Tails” — a reminder that service never stops.
This isn’t just about miles. It’s about connection, respect, and walking alongside those who’ve served.
We’re just getting started.

Grateful for the opportunity to be in D.C. representing In A Soldier’s Shoes 🇺🇸

Our Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Kayin McDonald, took the stage alongside Tony Goodesmith and Colonel (Ret.) Wendy Rivers at the AMVETS Post #12 Stand Down to share our mission and impact.

As a 501(c)(3), we provide shoes, socks, and essential items to nonprofits in need—but what truly sets us apart is our focus on connection. Through our ruck marches, we bring college students, veterans, and communities together to experience, learn, and support one another in a meaningful way.

Thank you to AMVETS Post #12 for the opportunity to speak and serve. Proud to have been there helping connect and support those who have given so much.

1,000+ miles. $16,000+ raised. 4 Michigan campuses.

This past weekend, over 150 participants showed up and stepped into something bigger than themselves at Northwood, Michigan State, Grand Valley, and Western Michigan.

9 individuals pushed even further—completing a full 12-mile ruck. That’s the kind of grit and commitment this mission is built on.

In this video, a Marine Officer Selection Officer out of East Lansing shares what this is really about—giving young men and women the opportunity to take care of Marines who have taken care of our country.

This isn’t just a workout.
It’s not just an event.

It’s a way to connect, to understand, and to give back to those who’ve sacrificed for all of us.

We’re just getting started.
