Northland College Environmental Council

Northland College Environmental Council Environmental Council is a group students that work on initiatives and events to advocate for sustainability at a campus, local, and, national level.

Environmental Council serves as a catalyst for change and development in environmental and social contexts on the Northland College campus. The Council develops, implements and oversees sustainability initiatives that work collaboratively with the broader goals of the Northland College liberal arts mission as well as advocates for sustainability at the local, national, and global levels. Friday was America Recycles Day! Environment Council celebrated this day by providing informative posters about the timeline of your recycling and info about terracycle and compost. We also took a tour of our recycling compactor and composter on campus!

We had a great turnout to our Clean the Ravine event this past weekend! We reused plastic bags we found to hold all of the other trash we picked up. It might have snowed the night before, but we still got outside and had a lovely morning!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Chequamegon Climate Strike yesterday!! In our small area of ~11,000 people, almost 400 people came, 50 of which were Northland students!
We are the change makers.
We are the learners.
We are the activists.
We are the scientists.
We are the lovers.
We are hopeful and united.
We will never stop fighting for our Earth.

CLIMATE STRIKE TODAY!!!

Series of Events:

>strike all day if you are able

>11 minute Die-In: at 11am we will lie on the ground on the mall to represent the 11 years we have left until climate change is irreversible

>Climate March: meet in front of the Ponzio at 4:50/5pm to walk to the Co-op where the march will begin. Following the march, youth speakers and local bands will take the stage at the bandshell

Tonight E.C. tabled alongside Refund prior to Rob Greenfield's talk.
It was so lovely to teach others how to properly throw out their trash, recycling and terracycle products. One small action can leave such a great impact!

Missed this fun game and still want a chance at entering a raffle?! We will be tabling again tomorrow at the Everybody Party from 5-6p.
